The IEEE stock number is SH10116.

The IEEE's P754 working group started in 1977; the standard was finally

to various drafts of the standard started to appear around 1980.

Persons becoming acquainted with the standard for the first time will
find helpful the August 1984 issue of IEEE Micro and the March 1981 issue
of IEEE Computer.
