238.0. "ARE THERE ANY PC ED. PROGRAMS?" by MUNOIS::DARNOLD () Fri Mar 15 1985 12:39

This is Derek Arnold in Munich (IS User Support)

I would be interested to get hold of a copy of any Maths Software for the
PRO (all levels!). There may already be some information in these notes
but I must wait until the system activity lessens before attempting to
read through them.

P.S. Above I have said "(all levels!)", what I mean is all levels of Maths
     not all levels of PRO.

First, have you been through the DECUS library? Almost anything in there
for -11's will run on the PRO with perhaps minor modifications. There are
numerous matrix algebra, integration, statistical, etc. functions in that
collection.

There are some reasonably capable commercial packages that are not too
expensive. TK!Solver is a general equation solver; uMATH is a symbolic
algebra/analysis package with some nice capabilities. I think MAPLE may
be available (see an earlier NOTE in this file.) That reminds me - the
DECUS APL system ought to run on a PRO.

For the edification of anyone not familiar with it, there is a catalog called
"Professional Series Software Listing", that lists a lot of 3rd party S/W
for all operting systems that run on the PRO (RT-11, U**X, XENIX, MS-DOS, you
name it...). For copies, the reference address is Prof'l Series S/W Listing
Editor, MLO1-2/C31, in Maynard.
