43.0. "AMSTeX" by HARE::STAN () Fri Feb 24 1984 15:01

If anyone is interested, I have a copy of the manual

		The Joy of TeX

by Michael Spivak. This manual describes AMS-TeX, a
macro package written for the American Mathematical
Society, that layers on top of Donald Knuth's TeX
typesetting package. The AMS is pushing the AMS-TeX
package as the package that they want authors to use who
will be submitted machine-readable articles to AMS journals.
AMS-TeX contains a lot of macros that would not be appropriate
to standard TeX, such as macros to generate parts of
articles like Theorems, Proofs, References, etc. as well
as a lot of obscure mathematical entities that are too
esoteric to be part of regular TeX.

The version of the manual that I have is Version 0 (1983) with a summary
of the TeX-82 changes incorporated into the latest AMS-TeX.

I do not as yet have the AMS-TeX package itself.

Have you gotten in touch with the Stanford TeX focal point, to
see if he might know where AMSTeX is? I think his name was Fuchs...

Sorry, I forgot to mention it. I have the AMSTeX macro package.
Got it quite a while ago. If anyone needs a copy, contact me.
