I have all of the functions with my printer, scanner, and modem. This
allows me to tailor or replace each one as I need or want to. With a
decent printer, every respectable scanner is also a copier.

| I bought an OfficeJet 300 (printer, copier, fax) about 2 years ago as a
refurb from Damark for less than $350. It has worked very well for my home
office. You can't do a large amount of copying but I haven't needed to and
we have accounts at Kinko's for this. I haven't had a need for a scanner
yet (for work purposes) but will be buying one for personal use soon.

| The sales slime at Office Depot talked me out of a multipurpose machine
because of the expensive, single use printer ribbon/cartridge things.
I already have a B&W and Color Inkjet printer and fax modem so I just
bought a decent scanner.

| Mine has a 51626A cartridge for which I have many choices of refilling
or replacing with non-HP lower cost cartridges.

That would be the kind to get. Stay away from the ones that use the
standard fax machine type roll ribbon.
