153.0. "DIGITAL buying agreement for Office Supplies???" by PTOSS1::BREZLER () Mon Feb 10 1997 14:46

I am a relatively new Telecommuter. I need to refresh some office
supplies. It occurred to me that DIGITAL probably has a buying
agreement with one or more of the national office supply companies.
Does anyone know which ones we have a buying agreement with? And how do
we need to identify ourselves in order to be able to buy under the
    DIGITAL discount umbrella?

Any help/pointers would be greatly appreciated....

First, welcome to a way of the future!
2nd, Try VTX TELECOMMUTING for some interesting reading.
And third, like I do, check with the local admin person on where your
boss wants you to get stuff, and how you can be reimbursed for it.
    It's working for me.

We were suppose to have a corporate agreement with Office Depot and
Kinkos, but in spite of several phone calls and mail sent to the area
Telecom support persons, that was never validated.

A while ago I asked the manager at a local Office Depot about a Digital
agreement. They never heard of us. Again, I wrote mail to the Telecom
hierachy, but never got a response. There appears to be an agreement
with Kinkos, but they are expensive anyway. For copies, I use Office Max
at $.04 per page (which is as cheap as copies made in a Digital office,
    I'm told).

Otherwise, I just buy what office supplies I need and expense them.
There is no particular savings to Digital, which I do care about
because I'm a stock holder, but I couldn't make people respond to my
mail. For software, use PCcomplete, or is it "Stream"? (VTX
PCSOFTWARE, VTX SSBA - internal). For telephone expenses, there is a
policy in the handbook. For hardware, it's DIAL and whatever your CC
approves, then use VTX IEG. This is what I remember anyway -- could be
    wrong by now!
