889.0. "Carbohydrate Sensitive" by MKOTS3::DESMARAIS () Thu May 25 1995 17:51

Has anyone heard of the book "Health is for Life" or the "Carbohydrate
Addict" by Drs. Rachael and Richard Hill? They were speaking of a TV
program regarding overweight people, specifically people who had a hard
time losing weight on the carbohydrate centered diets that are being
    focused on.

Well, this reply is a year late, but a friend of mine turned me on to this
diet several months ago, so I bought the book "Carbohydrate Addict's Diet"
by Drs. Heller. I couldn't believe how much it sounded like me - I've tried
various things, but just could never lose weight. Unfortunately, 2 days on
the diet, and I could no longer keep anything down - my body just couldn't
handle all the protein. So I looked into Infinity2, and planned to go that
route as soon as I could afford it.

In the mean time, another friend of mine went down 3 or 4 dress sizes in a
matter of months on something similar to the diet in the "Carbohydrate
Addict's Diet" book. It's through the Atkins Center for Complementary
Medicine. I "knew" I wouldn't be able to do it, based on my previous
experience with the high protein/low carb. diet, so didn't do anything
about it for a few months. But then I talked with another woman who had
lost 35 lbs. in 4 or 5 months, and found out that another woman I know had
lost quite a bit on this diet, so decided to give it another shot.

I think the key this time was the vitamins - I spent about $30 for a month's
supply of essential oils and a pretty complete vitamin/mineral supplement.
I've been on the diet about a week now, and have lost 7 lbs! I'm thrilled!
And I feel WONDERFUL! (I've always been a sickly person, and the last few
years I've felt constantly tired and run-down.) I'm really happy with the
energy level I have now - I'm certainly no "Wonder Woman", but at least I
can make it through the day without feeling like I've been beat up!

I'll keep you posted!
