| Well, I'm not an expert, but it sounds like your veggies are missing.
I'd steam the kind of veggies you like, maybe with some lemon pepper or
some herb your fond of, and toss it with that bowl of pasta. Veggies
have very little calories and really fill you up. Also, how about a
large salad? Lettuce, and veggies with a non-fat dressing if you like.

| I agree. I'd toss some broccolli in there.

Conratulations on your decision to reach your goal!
However, if that was my diet, I'd be eating my right arm by the end of
the first week! There seems (for *my* taste) to be a lack of variety,
expecially in the protein department. If you want to stick with this for
a couple of months I might suggest a variation. Maybe whole wheat pita
stuffed with flavored vegetables and beans. If you eat meat, maybe you
could supplement with a few ounces of lean turkey, chicken or fish?
Also, you may want to vary your exercise routine to prevent boredom.
Try some low impact aerobic activity which uses a small amount of
weights. Building a little extra muscle will help keep off the fat in
the future and will help balance your body. The treadmill is excellent,
but it only works a few muscles in the lower regions.
Four years ago I lost a lot of weight, but I did it without balanced
exercise and I wound up with very thin arms even though I was not very
thin through the hips and thighs. If I only knew then, what I know now!
The real results will be from a plan that you can stick with and won't
be so very different from the way you want to live your life from now on!
Good luck!
Amy
PS - the way to figure out fat percentages has been explained in here
somewhere, but I'll give you a quick method. Pick up a package of
something that has the caloric and fat content in grams listed.
Multiply the number of fat grams by 9. Next divide that number by the
total number of calories. Make sure you are using the numbers they list
for a portion.
Example: 100 grams of this product has 150 calories and 3 grams of
fat. 3 * 9 = 27, 27/150 = .18 = 18%. You would need to do this for
your whole day's worth of food, rather than item by item because it can
be misleading. A cup of coffee has virtually no calories. If you add a
splash of cream, virtually 100% of the calories are from fat! If you
add that to your whole day's menu, it doesn't have much affect. You
should read your cereal packages carefully because the fat content
varies widely. Many of the muesli cereals have far more fat than plain
grain cereals.

| Good Luck on your diet! I just finished reading "STOP THE INSANITY" by
Susan Powter (spelling?)..you know the lady with no hair. It is a great
book and really comical. She started at 260 lbs and now looks super.
She suggests adding alot of beans to our diets..it is low fat and will
fill us up with great carbs! I am trying to also change my eating
habits but not call it a diet but new way of life. I bought the "Kathy
Smith Walking tapes" and really love adding my morning walks for 30-45
min. With the great music and inspirational messages from Kathy, it
makes walking fun and not boring.

| Be careful of eating to *little* fat. Your diet has almost no fat at
all (assuming you listed everything)! Fat is necessary for bodily
functions. Also, it is very hard on your body to go from very high fat
immediately yo very low fat, and vice versa. Having some fat in your
diet won't hurt your weight loss, as long as it isn't a lot - like
maybe a couple Tablespoons of low-fat dressing on those veggies, a
little low-fat cream cheese on the bsgle, or 1% instead of skim in the
ceral.
Also, eating less food does not make you lose weight! Lowfat is good,
*especially* if you are eating enough. Some people start dieting by
cutting way back on food and increasing their exercise 10-fold. But
the more you exercise the more food you need! Better to increase your
exercise and decrease just fat, not amount of food.
