How may times a day do you eat carbohydrates?

Most of my meals are carbohydrate ones. Breakfast normally consists of
freshly chopped fruit (e.g. apple) with natural yogurt poured over.
Yogurt, even though it's contains protein, is classed as 'neutral and
so is fruit so this would be classed as a neutral meal and you *could*
eat protein OR carbohydrate within 4 hours of it.
It's o.k. to eat more often than every 4 hours but, if you're eating
protein (e.g. meat) you're *not* supposed to eat it within 4 hours of a
carbohydrate (starch) meal.

| Where can one get a copy/explanation of this diet? Book? Magazine?
Video?
It sounds great! I don't have a problem with heartburn, but I am
interested in reading about this.

Hi, Jen,
I'll have a look at my copy at home and give you the official title and
"IBN" ref number, then if you can't find it you'll be able to order it.
What I liked most about it was that you don't have to count calories.
Supposedly if you eat the correct food your body can get rid of excess
weight. If I ever get hungry between meals I just eat fresh fruit,
bananas are good for making you feel full because they're starchy so
take longer to digest.
Anyway, I'll check out the title and add a reply with it.

The title of the book is "Food Combining for Health" and it's written

I keep meaning to bring in my Wellness Encyclopedia to
enter a quote on food combinination diets, but I keep
forgetting.
The gist of it is that there is no magic formula of
food combining for weightloss or better health. There
is no scientific evidence that food combining does anything
good for you (though it could be bad for you if the
recommendations are not an overall balanced diet).
The best way to lose weight and be healthy is to eat
a low-fat, balanced diet comprised of a variety of foods.
(and EXERCISE !!!!)

Hi, Karen,
I would agree with you that it would be bad for your health to stick
to anything but a balanced diet. For me the hay diet worked because I
didn't have to count calories and was eating so much that I never felt
hungry - I was eating a lot of fresh vegetables, potatoes, and salad
and not much meat so it probably worked out as a 'low fat' diet !
Surely it must be good for our health to stick to fresh foods and not
eat additives (colouring, MSG, etc.) which are found in most packet and
canned food.
I'm having trouble sticking to the Hay Diet at the moment but I put that
down to having eaten sugar (cookies, cakes) and it takes three days to
get rid of those chemicals which cause the cravings (according to the
book). I know when I first went on the diet I lost all cravings after a
few days.
Thanks for the info.
Bye
