Well, folks waddayathink of her? I saw her on an Sally Jessie Raphael when they had the lady that so-called experienced the life of a fat person by wearing a fat suit. That's another story.... Susan was loud, pushy and painful to me. The latest WHO weekly here in Australia had a follow up article asking if she is a guru or a sham. I must admit I don't like people making tons of money off people who are in pain, and that is what happens at weight loss centres. She does have a good program, but what is right for her might not be right for everybody even though she thinks it is. I go along with the theory that diets don't work, 95% (or more depending on what you read) can't be wrong! So when Susan says to give up dieting but gives you another food program (a diet) it doesn't sit well with me. Does she stir up anything in you? Sue

I agree with you, Sue. She's a bit too much to take, and the concepts she is pushing are really no different than what experts in the health and nutrition field have been stating for years... low fat, high volume eating. She simply used her story to make money off it, and I guess I can admire her business savvy in that regard. Here's what I find humorous: Susan is constantly belittling her ex-husband in her infomercials, yet a recent article in (I think it was) People magazine, stated she owns a duplex in which her ex-husband rents out one side... and she pays his rent and likes it that way!! Hmm, and she's telling *us* to stop the insanity??!! :^)

Yeah, I had read that about "keeping" her husband for the children's sake, also. Seems to be a real control issue with her. I think she has traded one obsession for another, she really needs to do some inner work, it really shows if she is continually belittling her ex, (trying to bring him down to her level?!?). I hope her current marriage to a man she met and married in 6 weeks, works, for his sake! We don't have the infomercials here, thank goodness! Oops! I guess I am showing I don't like her at all. Thanks for listening. Sue
846.3 | Just a fad | ASABET::DOWNS | Tue Mar 08 1994 19:56 | 11
I think that she is just a fad and that in time she too will pass. I do use her step aerobic tape though. I haven't read her book but I am following the low fat but not so high volume way of eating. I don't get enough excersise to do the high volume I have a sit down job. She is a little annoying but I can't help but dream that I too could look like her someday. Except the hair and clothes. God! somebody give that woman a makeover. PLEASE!! oh my i think i'm shouting too. k |
