| 80 pounds!!! How did you do this? Don't have any advice except to
make your own clothing. It'll run about $5 for just about any blouse,
and maybe $15 to make a jacket.

798.3 | My opinion :) | GIAMEM::FARLEY | purple is a primary color | Wed Apr 21 1993 20:43 | 21 |
| I find consignment shops to be higher priced than some department
stores (not Jordan's of course). I don't know what size you are, but
for sizes 3-16 you can find good clothing rather inexpensively at
Caldor, Marshalls, and Bradlees. It depends on what you're looking
for. Most of my work clothes come from Marshalls or Caldor and
occasionally from Fashion Bug. And I usually go straight for the sale
racks. I don't spend more than $60 on a suit, and I make sure that I
can wear the pieces separately. For a blazer, ~$25, and for jeans,
well, I spend around $20-$22. $15 isn't really expensive for a decent
pair of jeans.
Obviously, I don't clothing for the name inside, and I don't wear pure
wool, gabardine, or other expensive materials. I buy cotton and cotton
blends, some rayon and the occasional silk camisole for under suits (the
last one I got at Hit or Miss for $10 on sale). Saves money in
drycleaning and you don't itch in them :) . I am a die-hard bargain
hunter.
Just my $.02

798.4 | Congratulations and go to store closings | SPESHR::MAHON | | Wed Apr 21 1993 21:28 | 13 |
| Look for stores going out of Business.
Right now if you go to Filenes at the Worcester Galleria they
have 50% off lowest ticketed price.
Then you can work your way back up 190 to Leominster and go
to Sage Allen. They are closing also and have 40% off lowest
ticketed price.
Good luck and congratulations. Personally, I think you should
splurge in some beautiful outfits to show off the new you!

| I have to agree with the previous noter who said splurge, now that you
have lost so much weight. I've taken off 45 in the last year, and have
had a ball buying clothes. I don't spend a lot either, and have very
good luck in TJ Maxx, Caldor, CWT (they have great sales!), and
especially by catalog (Spiegel or Chadwicks of Boston in particular),
since I'm petite and hard to fit, usually a 4 or 5.
Look for sales, and buy new! It's fun and you'll feel good showing off
your new figure.
Congrats!

| Hi,
Yesterday I went out for luncha nd found a consigment shop in Andover.
I picked up a pair of jeans for $6. a white linen skirt for $8.
and a denum jacket for $6.
I don't want to sound cheap I have spent at least 300.00 in the last
month or so. But I need every thing from undies to play stuff.
The things I have picked up so far are mostly work related.
But I always ask myself If this could be worn to other events.
But I do like to pick up jeans at consigment shops they have been
prewashed and shrunk. Plus they are broken in too.
So im still on the lookout for for places to go.
P.S. have had great luck finding things I like at TJ max or marshalls
But the one thing i have found out i can now wear what i want and not
just becouse its a size 20 and it fits.
Having a ball rediscovering myself.

| Wow, that is great to hear, splurge and do whatever it takes
to keep it off. Physically easier than losing it but mentally
more difficult - in my opinion.

there's a large salvation army store both in Worcester and in Fitchburg
- perhaps there's one in Lawrence also?
