785.0. "losing not good?" by SOLVIT::TRUBACZ () Thu Jan 28 1993 18:20

    Okay experts. I put this question to Aerobics, but no activity from
    there.  So,

    I was told that if I work out -too- hard I could be losing muscle.
    I've worked a jillion years and understand workout/rest. This is a new
    aspect.  Familiar to anyone?

    I will admit for a few weeks I was doing an excessive amount to try and
    shock my system (on a weight loss program and wasn't losing). I would
    bike every morning, video aerobics, fitness walk, and added nordic
    track on the weekend. I did get burned out and bored, so back to
    normal workouts, but still -losing muscle-??

    and, if you lose muscle does this prevent you from losing weight?

    Well, I don't have an "expert" answer for you, but I have never heard
    that. I know that you can get addicted to exercise, and that can be
    bad when you put it in front of others. Hmmm... I don't know. Just do
    a moderate amount of exercise--not too little or too much

    Too often and your muscles will not grow.

    Too hard and you might suffer tendon or ligament damage
