| I saw her infomercial over the weekend it is Stop the Insanity. She
talks about High Volume/low fat eating. She doesn't give much nore
information than that so you will buy her product.

| I bought her package. It is a diet of mostly beans, pasta, etc. Her
video tape is excellent. They messed up with the offer though. They
didn't send the fat program which helps you with the caliper. I called
and they are sending it out. I told them I was just interested in
buying her video. They gave me a number to call. It sells for $29.00.
To sum it all up, I think it's a high price to pay for a fat fomula,
($87.50) but if it helps, why not?
I hope that this helps.

| I saw her on a paid advertisement, and she definitely is a very upbeat
and motivating woman. However, she seemed very preoccupied about not
eating ANY fat, and we all need some in our diets to keep healthy.
For instance, she held up some reduced fat cheese, which had 2 grams
per slice. Then she calculated the formula for the percentage of fat
from that one slice (whereas I would just count those two grams of fat
into my total daily fat grams, since that is how I have lost weight, by
counting grams and keeping them to 30 and under per day), and screamed
to the audience that percentage and how horrible it was to eat, etc.
I love pasta, beans, rice, etc., but could never subsist on a diet
based solely on those items! I need some cheese, low fat milk (vs.
skim), and even a bite of chocolate every so often! While it is true
that fat makes fat, it won't if done in moderation, and especially if
you are exercising as well.

783.7 | fat percentage formula... | SOLVIT::OCONNELL | | Tue Mar 16 1993 17:28 | 20 |
| I too saw the infomercial last weekend and agree that Susan is
charismatic and motivating and REAL, and I was tempted to order her
video...but ~$90 was too much for me.
She said that we all need to do 3 things to live - eat, breath, and
MOVE.
The formula to figure the percentage of fat is...
Multiply the grams of fat times 9 and then divide by the
number of calories.
ie, 2 grams of fat per slice of cheese X 9 = 18
18 divided by 40 (calories per slice) = 45% fat
What would an acceptable percentage of fat be?

783.8 | I use cheese all the time - in moderation | GOLLY::CARROLL | a woman full of fire | Tue Mar 16 1993 19:13 | 24 |
| ie, 2 grams of fat per slice of cheese X 9 = 18
18 divided by 40 (calories per slice) = 45% fat
What would an acceptable percentage of fat be?
What slice of cheese is 40 calories?
Regular chedder cheese is about 120 cal/ounce, aprox (I think) 6 g gat,
meaning a little less than 50% fat.
Low-fat chedder cheese is about 80 cal/ounce, 3 g fat, meaning about
30% fat.
What is "acceptable" depends on how much of it you eat and with what.
The general recommendation is that your total intake should be less
than 30% fat. This doesn't mean you can't eat cheese (even full-fat)
but it should be in moderation.
My lunch for tomorrow is 10 ounces of potato (about 200 calories), and
1.5 ounces low-fat cheese (about 150 calories.) Total fat of about 4
grams, total percent fat about 10%...not bad...
D!
