How do you like the program? I was going to look into it.

764.2 | Jenny's plan is great! | SOLVIT::HUBBARD | | Mon Sep 14 1992 23:06 | 18 |
| For me it's really working great. I researched (like many others) the
other weight loss programs and for the time and money, this fit my
needs best.
Right now, I need the discipline (being managed), both for food
management and exercise. I'm learning a great deal about my eating
habits (were constant, no wonder my elbow was sore), nutrition and
overall balance. I also have a great deal more energy, I'm not hungry,
nor am I constantly thinking about food. I can't eat out yet, but it's
okay. My counselor is terrific, we're a team and work together to
adjust the menus according to my needs and she's always a phone call
away.
If you would like more details (bits/byte stuff) let me know and I'll
send you mail because I am really impressed with the program an
wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

764.3 | Jenny Craig | BUSY::STECK | | Tue Sep 22 1992 21:15 | 10 |
| I agree! I joined just last week and I've already lost 6lbs. I only
need to loose 18 but I know the last 10 is going to be tough. I really
like their emphasis on life style changes! Also, the food has been pretty
good considering the portion size. I joined the Success Plus plan so
that I would stay committed for life!
Sorry I didn't know that referrals get discounts on food. Otherwise
I would have used your name! Thanks for your input anyway.

| I was wondering if anyone has lost a substantial amount of weight by using
the Jenny Craig program. By substantial, I mean 75 or more pounds. It
seems like people I've talked to who joined Jenny Craig didn't really
have a lot of weight to lose. I'm just curious about how it works for
people who had a lot to lose.

| I just joined this weekend. So far, the food has been great! I go to
the center in Shrewsbury and my counselor is great. I haven't been
as hungry as I though I would either. I think mainly because there are
so many snacks throughout the day. I'm not constantly thinking about
food, which is a big change! I also took the Success Plan for the
"insurance" just in case I gain some back.
I was on WW for a while and did have success, but it was so much work.
I was constantly thinking about food and how to prepare it etc., etc.
This program is great. Everything is done for you (well, except for
exercise!).
I have 40lbs to lose and they say I should have it off by mid-February.
I can't wait!!

Jenny wanted about $70. a week for food......and about $50. to join
when I looked into it......Nutri System was about $60. a week for food.
Save some serious cash and join Diet Workshop or Weight Watchers.

764.9 | choose what's right for you.... | NODEX::MMCKENNA | | Mon Jan 04 1993 15:31 | 7 |

Choose what's right for you, but don't base it on this analysis. Add
up what you spend each week at WW and I think you'll find it may be
even more expensive in the long run. Just my opinion.

764.10 | All good plans | SOLVIT::TRUBACZ | | Wed Jan 06 1993 16:35 | 22 |
| I absolutely agree with -1 any program that involves you personally
should be investigated to the fullest.
What are your long term goals, what is your financial situation, do you
have the time to pre-measure or measure, what is the counseling like,
are you really committed, what exactly does each program offer and what
does your physician say.
$.02 expert that I am, I didn't ask enough upfront questions. My
program will work for me (now) but it's been a struggle.
The Success Plus that I joined is a lifetime committment, a one time
fee and Jenny Craig IS committed to your success. The food cost
depends on the plan you choose, and oh by the way, you don't have to
buy the food, it may take a tad longer to lose.
I have discovered they are all terrific programs, it works if we do.
Good luck in your search

I've lost 28 lbs. through Nutri-System, 40 lbs. through Diet Workshop
and Weight Watchers, and about fourty on my own. When I looked into
Jenny, it resembled Nutri-System but a little more glamorous and about
ten dollars more a week for food.
These organized diet centers are great for people who don't have the
time to prepare their meals, want strict guidlines and supervision
and *can* afford them. The meals vary in quality taste wise and are
small portions. They *are* effective. As far as the food costing the
same as being on a WW diet, I can purchase a lot more and better
quality meals for a lot less than $70. a week. I'd prefer a boneless
chicken breast, fresh broccoli and a baked potato with some Molly
Mcbutter on it than a freeze dried hamburger veggie du jour, and a snack.
My point is that any diet will work, the method in which you choose
to do it depends on your will power and commitment as well as the time
you are able to put into it. The most important thing is that you just
do it, whatever way works for you and combine it with some exercise.
I feel that these organized diet centers at too costly, at least for
me.
Good Luck!

764.12 | Whatever works.... | NODEX::MMCKENNA | | Thu Jan 07 1993 13:39 | 16 |
| Just to clarify, I have been on Weight Watchers, and think it's a
great program! I also like JC, but you should go with whatever is right
for you at the time. My only suggestion was to think carefully about
comparing prices. I feel that if you add up your weekly WW fee along
with the food you will need to buy, it would come "close" to what JC
will cost. Obviously a fresh home cooked meal will taste better, but
if what you NEED is all the planning and most meal preparation done
for you (to start) then JC could be for you. I very rarely spent $70.00
a week on JC food. But then, there were two of us doing it, so the
cost may have been affected by that.
What we all agree on is that the plan fit the NEEDS of the individual.
That's the most important thing.
Marcie (55 pounds lighter thanks to my own determination and the help
of JC)

764.13 | Sharing JC's New Tapes? | MRKTNG::WEBER | Nancy Weber @MKO | Wed Dec 22 1993 19:01 | 8 |
| Anyone out there currently doing Jenny Craig who would like to work
something around sharing JC's new video and audio tapes? I don't really
want to fork out $99 for the set, but all indications are that I'll be
missing information if I don't view them.
If you want to address me directly send me mail at MRKTNG::WEBER
