I have a question on what kind of affect certain types of food can have on a person. For example, if on your salad you put raisins, hot peppers and vinegar, and you eat this EVERYDAY for lunch (boring), what are the affects on your stomach? I ask this because I have a friend who does this everyday and was complaining of lower stomach pain. At first I thought it had something to do with a pulled muscle due to weight training, but I've been thinking about the food intake. I felt the raisins were most likely one of the culprits, as for the hot peppers, perhaps heart burn - not sure about lower stomach pain, and the vinegar, I don't know. Considering the acidity ??? Anybody have any thoughts on this? Thanks

I hate to sound like I'm ducking the question, but if she has pain, and you say she does, then she really needs to see a GI specialist. If this is an ulcer, and it very well could be, it should be given immediate attention, or else it could become chronic. | |||||

I know this note is getting old - but here goes anyway... About the stomach - I've got a long standing problem that I am on medication for. The doctor originally gave me list of yes foods and no foods. Note: dried fruit (raisins) and vinegar (the vinegar and the peppers), not to mention the peppers themselves - all banner items on the no list. A doctor is a good recommendation but his likely first step would be to have her alter her eating patterns and see if that helps. She likely is hyperacidic either due to heridity or stress. This makes her prone to stomach trouble, but likely not an ulcer yet if she is just getting a stomache ache. An ulcer basically knocks you to the floor. Either she needs a doctor, a book on the subject, or to keep of log of what she eats and trying cutting those things out that causes pain. Not meant to be medical advice - just my two cents. --karen |
