663.1 | I'm Dreaming.......... | BUFFER::WESTON | | Fri Apr 19 1991 19:34 | 31 |
| I'm dreaming, of the near future.
As I start, Jenny Craig tomorrow morning---------and the months go by
with steady weight loss. I hear praises from family and friends.
Some, who have never seen me at such a smaller weight. I feel myself,
not "bumping" into corners of tables, I no longer knock things off of
tables with my "behind". I can walk straight down the coridors at
work, no more do I go sideways to let people by.
I have a "whole new wardrobe". Right now, it's during the winter
months, and the bulky clothes don't feel like I already have 14
sweaters for a body! I can put on a sweater to be pretty or cute, not
to hide by layers. I can "OUT LOUD" tell family what my clothes size
is, for Xmas gifts. I walk into............................
" ANY CLOTHING STORE.........I WANT TO!"
I look forward to Spring (if only I could right now).......to put on a
pair of cotton jeans and tuck in a nice cotton blouse. Simple things,
make me happy.
I look real forward too.............my belly being gone, so it is not
in the way of my closeness with my husband!!!!!!!!!! TA! DA!
I do wish upon a star.............
Dreams can come true!

It's not gonna be a dream for long Carol, soon it will be a REALITY!!
It really is worth it. I've lost 38 lbs so far with Weight Watchers
(still have 14 left to get to goal). Do I feel different? YES,
I feel 100% different. I'm not as self-conscious any more; I can
go to a store and find clothes with no problem, friends and family
have praised me up and down, but best of all is that I feel good
about ME!!
My dreams? My biggest is to feel great in a swimsuit this year.
To actually go into a store and just pick one off the rack and have
it fit me (instead of going to 10 different stores and trying on
300 different suits, only to go home and cry because they all looked
terrible). That's my dream....
I wish you the best of luck with Jenny Craig Carol!!!!! Keep us
posted on your progress...

663.3 | reaching your goal | WMOIS::BARDSLEY | | Thu Apr 25 1991 13:02 | 15 |
| None of us have to dream! We just need to find the will power and set
our goals to be thinner. I have resently lost 50 lbs on Nutri Systems
very simular to Jenny Craig. What I am struggling with now is keeping
it off forever. I have been on maintanance for about 8 weeks now and I
am finding it very hard. What's so hard is that I'm not eating enough
so my metabalism has slow right down , causing a few pounds gained
instead of losing.
When I was losing the weight I told everyone that I wasn't so worried
about losing it as I was to keep it off and I guess I was right.
Good luck to all of you, it's not easy, but knowing their are many other
people out there striving for the same goals helps a lot.

| Actually, your matablosim SPEEDS UP rather than slowing down, digesting
food much faster than before, because there is less of it!
Exercise is a very good recipe for maintenance...

663.5 | Less food => SLOWER metabolism | ESCROW::ROBERTS | | Fri Apr 26 1991 16:24 | 5 |
| re .4
Research has shown that curtailing caloric input slows down your
metabolism. This is precisely the problem with crash diets; your body
adjusts its metabolism to "famine" conditions.

663.6 | Monday Morning Dreams | POCUS::FEINMAN | | Mon May 06 1991 15:20 | 24 |
| Can you imagine...a waitress at a Club you frequent often refusing to
speak to your husband because he appears to be out with another (much
thinner) woman?
Can you imagine...your obnoxious brothers and sister-in-law teasing you
for being the oldest person in the group silenced by the challenge to
do 100 push-ups because you know YOU can?
Being thinner than your mother for the first time in your life?
Putting on your size 18 wedding gown for fun and looking ridiculous
because you now have a size 8 body?
They used to be my dreams, but each one really happened.
Now I dream of losing those last 20 pounds and continuing to look and
feel strong and attractive. I dream about turning into the person I
always wanted to be.
Thanks, Carol, for starting me off on these daydreams on this rainy
Monday morning. Good luck making your own dreams come true - I know
you'll succeed.
