645.2 | MicroBiotic | VAXCAT::RKE | Polysyllabic Pussycat | Fri Feb 08 1991 12:34 | 10 |
| A micro(biotic) diet is a diet designed to give you all your
(micro)nutrients. Some (alot) of the food is served raw, or very
lightly cooked, I believe it may be that it's vegan also, though I may
be wrong. It is certainly radical. It is something that appeals to me,
but I'm not sure my family are ready for it yet...8^). I would guess
that if you are having problems with your current diet, this may be a
bit alternative to cope with. But you'll feel remarkably healthy,
even if you're overweight.

645.3 | It's the MicroDiet | AKOCOA::CORMIER | Lost is a place, too. | Fri Feb 08 1991 17:26 | 6 |
| The MicroDiet is a commercial weightloss diet sold in various ways. I
know that my Aerobics place sells it but you must be a member of the
club. Personally, I prefer "real" food.

Thanks for the replies, I've done some investigating:
I've understood, from several people, that its a weightloss plan
consisting of shakes, chili, cereral, granola-type bars and some kind
of pasta. The ideal plan for quickest weightloss is 3 MicroDiet meals
per day, but supposedly they let you mix and match according to how
fast and how much weight you want to lose. For example, you can do 3
MicroDiet meals for 3 weeks (thats the maximum) and then add one
regular meal to it for the 4th week and then go back on. Or you can do
2 Micro meals a day or you can do 3 MicroMeals Monday to Friday and mix
and match over the weekend or whatever. Weight loss is supposed to be
rapid when you do 3 Micro meals a day. Meals come in packets, are
ordered from "MicroDiet Advisors" and cost between $2.50 and $4.00 a
meal.
The only drawback, I've heard, is the food doesn't taste so good.
This is the part I'm trying to get confirmed or denied.
Anyone else?
Thanks!
Susan

645.5 | For FOOD, Try this!!! | CECV03::AZARIAN | | Tue Apr 02 1991 19:05 | 15 |
| Honestly, If you're looking for a good tasting real food diet, I'd try
Jenny Craig. The food was wonderful, I lost 8 lbs the first week and a
total of 16 in 6 weeks (I had to stop because it's a little expensive
and my husband got laid off) It runs in four week cycles, $80+, 70+,
60+, 50+ and back again. The food is a treat (and I'm a good cook)
It's all microwaveable with few exceptions. You get three meals,
snacks, vitamin supplements, etc. I cant tell you how great I felt,
never tired. Its a low fat 20%, high carb (which I can tell you I
NEVER thought I'd EVER lose weight with). It was great. You might
want to consider it. They're every where. I'd be there again today if
I had the money. No Questions Asked. A nutritious, balanced way to
diet if your problem is "food". You don't have to touch it, it's
already done!

645.6 | How'd it work? | POBOX::RILEY_R | | Mon Jul 29 1991 18:04 | 8 |
| I just saw one of those paid half hour commercials on the micro diet
yesterday!!! I was happy to see the topic already in here. Did anyone
try this diet? How'd it go? Please respond as I'm thinking about
doing it and I'd like to hear from someone before I do it!!
The other diet I'm considering is the Rotation Diet.
Thanks Renee
