I have a friend that has a lot of weight to lose. She has made several serious efforts to begin and yet it seems there is something inside of her that forces her to the candy machine. I don't suspect there are any real answers...except to keep trying. Maybe if some of us that have lost lots of weight could share our experiences here it might help. Also a personal support group might be helpful...send me mail if you are willing to correspond with her and I will forward it to her. Thanks...

Hi, I have lost 38 pounds. I have 62 more to go before I reach my goal. IMO, your friend needs to get to a point in life where she really *wants* to do something for herself. If the mental desire is not there 100% then efforts can be futile. Dieting, exercising, etc. are wonderful but unless the person is ready phychologically for a change and a committment, then the results come much harder. Is she a Digital employee who has access to this file? This conference and the PROGRESS conference are a great means of support. Also, has she thought about seeing a counselor? There could be some reason she's blocking out that doesn't allow her to committ to a program. Sometimes it can be very frightening to change your appearance. Good luck to her. Keep in touch. Having been there myself I feel that someone can want to loose weight very badly and yet not be able to stick to any sort of weight reduction plan. I am a person who yo-yo's back and forth. I have been fortunate to have stayed withing a 1 stayed within 15 pounds of m years. Has anyone had any success with medication. Maybe someone with a great deal to loose should get a head start! |
