Hi All, Heard an interesting health fact on the radio this morning. It has been found that people in general tend to gain most weight between ages of 28 - 34 years of age. It's a lifelong battle and age never was a factor to me. Anyone out there find the same thing? Have a nice one. Donna

I heard it as 25 - 34 also. They also said it may be due to people these ages starting to live on their own and start cooking for themselves. Also these people start working at these ages and many have sedentary (sp?) jobs.

I've known quite a few people to whom this happened; it usually did *not* correspond with a significant change in lifestyle. I think it's just that one's metabolism tends to slow down as one gets older. Think about how much energy most little kids have! It's not a gradual thing; there are times when there's a big change in a short time. Beverly PS: I changed the title on the base note to be more descriptive of the topic.

This is true!!! I got married at 24, weight was 100 lbs. When I was 25, my weight went up to 104. When I was 26, my weight went up to 108/110 (my clothes still fit, and I started to lose interest in exercise) Now I am 30 and weigh 135, and at 5'2 1/2" that really is too fat for me! When I was 27 & 28, I did not exercise much at all. I think that is my problem. I went to a health club, and was down to 122 last spring, but quit because it was becoming too expensive. Now I have been exercising regularly (at least 4 times/week) doing 1/2 hour of toning and 1/2 of aerobics in the morning since Feb. I just changed to Jane Fonda's new workout (beginners) this past Saturday. I -STILL- weigh 135! Oh, eating--- I am trying very hard, but my weakness is MOST definately chocolate - m&m's in particular. Otherwise I am doing okay, eating fruits, veges and chicken cooked in low sodium broth and spices. To make a long story short, I can not imagine myself losing any weight, it's been 2 months, shouldn't I have at least lost 5 or 10 lbs???? I want to look good this summer. p.s. I hate exercising, but I faithfully get up at 5:30 a.m. Monday thru Friday to do Jane Fonda's workout because I never feel like exercising when I get home from work. (I think I must be laxy...) I am at the point now, that I am no longer going to eat after 4 p.m. (that is what I do on weekends) I guess age does matter......my goal was to be 110 (firm and toned) by June! --- -=Doreen=-

Doreen, if you crave chocolate, those diet hot chocolate packets can help - they are only 50 calories while the M&Ms are something like 250? anyhow, they also are hot and give you some liquid and fill you up much more than the M&Ms will, and you don't feel sick after drinking them the way you do (for several reasons) after the candy. Good luck, Louise |
