Still Life with Menu is her newest one -- and I think a little more
fat-conscious than the others. The New Laurel's Kitchen, also
vegetarian has many low-fat, "healthy" recipes. My favorite is still
Jane Brody's Good Food Book - half the book is on nutrition,food,
cooking and eating tips, the other half is yummy low-fat,low salt recipes.

| Heart Smart is in paperback and is especially low in salt and fat.
It breaks down the recipes into breads, fats, etc.
Lean and Luscious one and two have a lot of low fat and low salt
recipes, but not all of them. However, each recipe is followed by a
breakdown of breads,fats,protein,fruit, etc along with the Mg. of salt,
cholesterol, etc.

557.4 | Cooking Light cookbook - looks great | COMET::BOLDEN | | Wed Feb 14 1990 16:01 | 17 |
| I just bought a cookbook called "Cooking Light" Cookbook for 1990.
It seems to be very good (has lots of recipes). This book lists
not only calories, but grams of protein/fat/carbohydrate/cholesterol/
iron/sodium/calcium.
It seems to have just about everything from breakfasts, brunches,
lunches, dinners. These are both plain and elaborate.
If you would like to order it:
Cooking Light Books
P.O. Box 832463
Birmingham, AL 35201
This particular book cost 14.99 plus 2.99 for postage.

Yup, it's a good cookbook, but be careful. When you buy one, you'll
automatically be sent a new one every year. They are good about
stopping it though, and accepting returns.

557.6 | Deliciously Simple | CSSE32::BELLETETE | afghanistan banana stand | Wed Feb 21 1990 14:22 | 13 |
| I also have the "Cooking Light" 1990 & the 1988. I did get the 1989
issue and it seemed to have a lot of the same/similar recipes from the
1988 issue. The 1990 issue has lots of new and great recipes.
I bought a cookbook called Deliciously Simple (can't remember author)
for my mom a few years back. This book specializes in low-fat,
low-salt & low-cholestorol recipes. I have copied loads of recipes from
that book which are very tasty. The author has a few other books which
concentrate on low-fat, salt & cholesterol.
