531.0. "High fat foods" by MSDOA::MCMULLIN () Mon Nov 13 1989 11:47

    I'm reading more and more about needing to cut out "high fat" foods
    from my diet to help me lose weight and be generally healthier, but I
    have yet to see a list of high fat foods. Does anyone have a list they
    wouldn't mind adding here or sending to me? There are certain things I
    know that are high fat, but I imagine there are other things that I
    don't know of. Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Virginia

    Thanks so much Audrey. So, in other words, I should avoid or cut way
    back on any of these foods, right?

    Thanks again,

   	Yes, or cook them in ways to reduce the fat content.

	For example, broiling meats will lower the amount of fat.

    Wow! I bought some rolls last week without looking for the calorie
    content panel. I checked the ingredients and shortening was way down
    on the list, just before salt.

    It turns out they have 5 grams of fat each. And at 140 calories total,
    that's 30% of the calories from fat. That's very high for bread rolls.

    The other brand I have has 0.7 grams of fat per roll. Big difference.
