I tried it and tastes TERRIBLE! I bought 2 cans from General
Nutrition Center and brought 1 back for a refund. I can stand
just about anything, but this was not a pleasant experience. It
is to be mixed with fruit juice, so I tried pineapple juice.
Pineapple juice and sawdust. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

476.2 | Interesting Diet! | SWAPO::WAGNER | | Wed Jul 05 1989 19:47 | 9 |
| There is a woman in our group who is on this diet. She says it
tastes horrible, but is determined to stick to it. She eats one
meal a day and drinks the liquid for two. Her meal consists of
a baked potato with butter. She also eats carrots when hungry and
one raisin bran roll a day. She has been on the diet 9 days and
has lost 4 and 1/2 pounds. I'll keep you updated!

476.3 | ch 4 special on liquid diets | ANT::ZARLENGA | we all fall down, like toy soldiers | Thu Jul 06 1989 21:15 | 20 |

Channel 4 (Boston) will have a feature on liquid diets tomorrow
night during the 6 o'clock news (I think) - I saw it advertised
about 7:30/8:00 tonight, so maybe it'll be on a special from 7:00
to 8:00 ???
If you're thinking about following an unsupervised liquid diet,
try to watch or tape this. Looked like they had some nutritionists
from Boston featured in interviews.
The promo went something like "some diets can be dangerous to
your health", and continued on with a doctor(?) saying "following
some of these is like playing Russian roulette".
This should be mandatory viewing for anyone thinking about
starting some half-cocked, nutritionally unbalanced diet. (I'm not
saying that the Bahamian diet is that kind of diet, mind you)

476.4 | Dick Gregory, on Donahue again. | WAGON::SWINIARSKI | NANcy--*NANSKI*--SwiniarSKI | Wed Jul 19 1989 12:45 | 16 |
| Dick Gregory was interview just last week on Phil Donahue. (I know
Donahue is on at 4:00 I had a vacation day.) He (Dick) did say that at
his centers he often consults with physicians if needed. He did have
some people on that have lost 100s of pounds since last appearing 1 1/2
years ago. I saw his 1/2 hour advertisement on TV last night. He
mentioned that you replace ONE meal with the drink. Back a few notes it
was stated that one individual is replacing two meals with the drink.
So... what's the story with this stuff? I think with any of these diets
you're going to find physicains that agree with the diet methods and
some that don't. The best thing is to talk to your doctor, and do a
little consumer research. These things all have to be approved by the
FDA so there must be some literature out there.
No one gained 50-60 lbs overnight and their not going to lose it
overnight.

476.5 | Bahamian diet yet again (moved by moderator) | WONDER::YOUNG | | Mon Nov 06 1989 11:11 | 15 |
| Hi,
I'd like some information on the Bahamian diet. I know there
are 2 notes on this already (42, 476), but they don't answer my
question. General Nutrition Center has the cans of the powder with
a little pamphlet inside. Does anyone know if this pamphlet
describes the diet in full? THere was a mention in 476 about a
cassette. Are there any vitamins that go along with it? I guess
what I'm asking is is the only thing I need to get the can of powder
or is there other stuff? I'm doing a program now that's a protein
drink twice a day but it has vitamins that go along with it. (I'm
running out of the powder and can't get more so I need a replacement.)
Thanks,
Barb

476.6 | Call GNC | MSDOA::MCMULLIN | | Mon Nov 06 1989 11:38 | 8 |
| You could probably call GNC and ask them if you don't get an answer
here. I've always found the GNC's to be very helpful whenever I had a
question or problem.
good luck,
