How did you do that???? I have been trying to lose these pesky ten
pounds forever! I am 5'4" and weigh about 120 and would like to get
down below 110. I have been eating mostly vegetables and I am very
active and athletic. I run from 2 to 5 miles almost every day and some
times do areobics or ride my bike. I tried lifting weights and spot
reducing and I am just so frustrated!! I am in great physical
condition but I just can't seem to lose the weight.
I am writing to you because you seem to have the secret. Let me in on
it! I would love to get down to 108.

462.2 | Really overweight? | COOKIE::WILCOX | Database Systems/West | Sat Jun 03 1989 00:56 | 7 |
| re A.B., do your measurements tell you you're overweight or does
the scale? With the shape you sound like you're in, you might
have a lot of dense muscle tissue. Just food for thought..er..ah,
just a thought.

462.3 | Inches to go.... | CAPNET::BARKER | | Mon Jun 05 1989 09:35 | 11 |
| re Liz, I guess it's a little of both. I don't look really overweight
in regular clothes, but when I try to wear a bathingsuit, I feel like
my thighs are too big. I have been down to 113 over the last year and
my clothes were looser. Now I am back up to 120 and can't seem to
loose it again. Maybe the weight gain was in muscle like you said, but
I still think my thighs could loose a few inches just the same. Thanx
for the thought.

I was very frustrated for about 3-4 weeks. I was at at plateau
of 110. It was driving me nuts, but finally two weeks ago I was
past the magic number. I am still loosing cause I want to get
down to 105 (actually I would love to get down to 100 lbs ( i am
5'1" with a little frame) but I want to reach one goal before I
look towards another). I think the key for me is to excercise in
the morning and also to stop eating/drinking after 7:00. I try
to stop after 6:00, but will stretch it to 7:00 cause it is summer
and we are usually out until the sun goes down. I have a slow
metabolism and excercising first thing in the morning tends to rev
it up.
I have basically changed the way I eat. I used to eat the majority
of my meals/snacks late in the day and early evening. Then I would
basically relax at home not doing much exercise. I never ate a
breakfast. But now I eat breakfast and a big lunch. My dinner is
very light so the majority of my food is taken during my most active
part of the day.
That is what works for me.
Good luck,
Michele

462.5 | Found a fat content chart | CAPNET::BARKER | | Tue Jun 06 1989 09:44 | 18 |
| MICHELE,
Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will try to stop eating after
7:00 like you did.
Also, I did find a fat content chart last night. There is a medium
sized one in the June issue of Prevention Magazine. It has calories,
fat grams and percent fat listings for meat, poultry,
sauces-gravies-dressings, condiments, fats and oils, and fruits and
juices.
I have the issue today with me at work. Write back with you mail stop
and I will send a copy of it to you.
regards,
Angela B.

| There is also a chart in the "8 Week Cholesterol Cure". It also
lists how much cholesterol is in each food.
