I've seen Jake on television. He has some good (and safe)
exercise ideas, if his videos follow suit, they're probably worth
the investment.

remember vaguely seeing his book either last year or the year before
in bookstores.

384.3 | GREAT WORKOUT TAPE!!! | RAINBW::FANEUF | | Tue Dec 27 1988 09:46 | 14 |
| Just wanted to pass this along.... I have been using the "RAQUEL"
Beauty and Fitness tape along with "A WEEK WITH RAQUEL" tape and
it is in my opinion the most enjoyable, thorough and "best result"
system on the market. It is for the person who needs to ease back
into a routine of excersise. Raquel combines yoga techniques of\
breathing and stretching, which not only tone your body quickly,
but relax you into the type of attitude needed for daily
motivation. Positive messages are repeated and a feeling of
well being is gained each time the routine is completed.
For those of you who would like to benefit physically and mentally
from your exercise, this one is great! (been following it for
about 8 mos. total and I am still enjoying it.

384.4 | Jake... | GEMVAX::DEPTOLA | | Thu Jan 05 1989 15:45 | 17 |
| What a coincidence, I just heard the name "Jake" the other night...
I'm not trying to lose weight, (trying to gain it, actually) but
ran across an article in COSMO on "Getting Fit in One Minute a Day"
or some other attention grabbing title. :^) This article gave an example
of exercises for toning up the main "problem areas".
Usually exercises featured in magazines are pretty laughable, in
that they're so easy it would take quite a few to feel like you've
done anything. I tried a few of these, particularly
the ones for the stomach and hips and another for the inside of
the thigh and I'll have to say, I was impressed. The stomach exercise
was a modified situp that definately hit a larger area of the stomach
and across the rib cage than your basic situp and definately took
more strength and coordination. "Jake" seems like he might be worth
looking into...

384.5 | I'VE USED THE VIDEO | FSHQA2::DROGER | | Mon Jan 30 1989 12:27 | 23 |
| I have the Body by Jake videotape. I haven't used in awhile. I
am the type of person who needs to be part of an exercise class
(aerobics etc.) to stay with a program. Anyway, the videotape is
very good. This particular video is about 60 minutes in length.
There are 2 levels to the video. The first level is for someone who
really hasn't exercised in a long time. The second level is a little
more advanced. I followed the second level only...this level involves
the use of hand weights and a broom. The broom is used for stretching
the waist etc. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would rate it a 7 to
an 8. Again, this video is really good for someone who hasn't
exercised in sometime. I did feel better after using it. But I've
discovered that I get quicker results if I work out in an aerobics
class for 60 minutes and then use the nautilus machine for 30 minutes.
This method by far has resulted in quicker weight loss and better
body tone.
Body by Jake can be purchased at any videostore. Just ask the
videostore to order it if they don't have it in their inventory.
Good luck with it!

| It's a half-hour TV program called "Body By Jake". There really
isn't much exercise ... just what Jake calls his "Seven Minute
Workout".
My favorite part of the show is his theme song, "Don't Quit, Never
Give Up!". I try to remember that it applies to much more of my
life than weightloss.
