384.0. ""Body By Jake"" by SRFSUP::TERASHITA (California Native) Mon Dec 19 1988 15:26

    I would like any and all comments you might have about a new exercise
    program called "Body By Jake".

    Have you found it useful? Is it all exercise or does he do other
    segments? Is the exercise aerobic or muscle-building, or both?

    I caught it on Sunday morning on KABC-TV in Los Angeles, and I see
    that it is carried at 5:30 a.m. on weekdays by that station.

    Am I the last person in America to discover this show?

    Any comments will be welcome.

    Thanks,

    Lynn T.

    	I've seen Jake on television. He has some good (and safe)
    exercise ideas, if his videos follow suit, they're probably worth
    the investment.

384.2No video tapes ... yetSRFSUP::TERASHITACalifornia NativeTue Dec 20 1988 14:586
    Haven't seen any videos...I saw his television program. I also
    remember vaguely seeing his book either last year or the year before
    in bookstores.

384.3GREAT WORKOUT TAPE!!!RAINBW::FANEUFTue Dec 27 1988 09:4614
    Just wanted to pass this along.... I have been using the "RAQUEL"
    Beauty and Fitness tape along with "A WEEK WITH RAQUEL" tape and
    it is in my opinion the most enjoyable, thorough and "best result"
    system on the market. It is for the person who needs to ease back
    into a routine of excersise. Raquel combines yoga techniques of\
    breathing and stretching, which not only tone your body quickly,
    but relax you into the type of attitude needed for daily
    motivation. Positive messages are repeated and a feeling of
    well being is gained each time the routine is completed.

    For those of you who would like to benefit physically and mentally
    from your exercise, this one is great! (been following it for
    about 8 mos. total and I am still enjoying it.

384.4Jake...GEMVAX::DEPTOLAThu Jan 05 1989 15:4517
    What a coincidence, I just heard the name "Jake" the other night...

    I'm not trying to lose weight, (trying to gain it, actually) but
    ran across an article in COSMO on "Getting Fit in One Minute a Day"
    or some other attention grabbing title. :^) This article gave an example
    of exercises for toning up the main "problem areas".

    Usually exercises featured in magazines are pretty laughable, in
    that they're so easy it would take quite a few to feel like you've
    done anything. I tried a few of these, particularly
    the ones for the stomach and hips and another for the inside of
    the thigh and I'll have to say, I was impressed. The stomach exercise
    was a modified situp that definately hit a larger area of the stomach
    and across the rib cage than your basic situp and definately took
    more strength and coordination. "Jake" seems like he might be worth
    looking into...

384.5I'VE USED THE VIDEOFSHQA2::DROGERMon Jan 30 1989 12:2723
    I have the Body by Jake videotape. I haven't used in awhile. I
    am the type of person who needs to be part of an exercise class
    (aerobics etc.) to stay with a program. Anyway, the videotape is
    very good. This particular video is about 60 minutes in length.
    There are 2 levels to the video. The first level is for someone who
    really hasn't exercised in a long time. The second level is a little
    more advanced. I followed the second level only...this level involves
    the use of hand weights and a broom. The broom is used for stretching
    the waist etc. On a scale from 1 to 10, I would rate it a 7 to
    an 8. Again, this video is really good for someone who hasn't
    exercised in sometime. I did feel better after using it. But I've
    discovered that I get quicker results if I work out in an aerobics
    class for 60 minutes and then use the nautilus machine for 30 minutes.
    This method by far has resulted in quicker weight loss and better
    body tone.

    Body by Jake can be purchased at any videostore. Just ask the
    videostore to order it if they don't have it in their inventory.

    Good luck with it!

    Donna

384.6Is there a regular T.V. program?LEVERS::L_WILLIAMSTue Jan 31 1989 13:515

    channel in the Lowell, Mass. area?

384.7What an ungodly time to exerciseHAMSTR::JAFFEThe Big Blue Buster from CMGTue Jan 31 1989 15:114
    I am on Americable in Merrimack NH and often wake up to Jake (after
    having fallen asleep with the TV on) at about 5:30 AM. Check the
    early morning listings in your area.

384.85am. Followed by Business News!HPSRAD::LEWISTue Jan 31 1989 18:005
    Channel 4 (WBZ-TV) airs it at 5am Mon-Fri. He only does a few minutes
    of exercises - mostly its interviews with guests.

384.9What is the name of the t.v. program?LEVERS::L_WILLIAMSWed Feb 01 1989 08:509
    If I understand correctly, he does not have a full t.v. program?
    It is only a minute here and there (like a commercial in a way)?
    Thank you for the info. I will tape channel 4 at 5 a.m. How
    about the program at 5:30? what is it called (body by Jake)?

    thank you again
    L.

    It's a half-hour TV program called "Body By Jake". There really
    isn't much exercise ... just what Jake calls his "Seven Minute
    Workout".

    My favorite part of the show is his theme song, "Don't Quit, Never
    Give Up!". I try to remember that it applies to much more of my
    life than weightloss.
