378.0. "Some helpful strategies" by COOKIE::WILCOX (No more new notes) Thu Nov 17 1988 17:43
Thought I'd drop in a note on what our Weight Watchers group is
doing to help each other combat those holiday temptations. For
anyone who wanted to be a part of it, we chose Secret Pals.
Some examples of what have been done:
I've received numerous cards, a rose, and a plant from mine.
I've sent a bunch of cards and left one at the WW meeting with
a package of WW Chocolate Mousse
One of the men received a jump rope
One received a huge plastic padlock bank to drop money in everytime
he resists food in the fridge
Others have gotten various treats like WW brownies, mugs, etc..
We've found this helps keep us on track and also gives us the feeling
that others care about how we do. We plan to reveal the Secret Pal
identity at a party.
Other things we've done is we've had a couple pot-lucks at our meetings.
This really helps people see that eating program food can mean LOTS
of variety and GREAT food. Another thing is that when a person buys
a WW cookbook those of us who have recipies we've tried will write in
comments. This, of course, only if the purchaser wants us to! I like
to do this because I've got a few tricks for cutting out exchanges the
recipies call for. (Like, for a white sauce I can never get the flour
to mix with the melted margarine, so I mix it with the milk, then forget
about the margarine and just heat the milk slowly.)
Anyway, thought I'd just throw those ideas your way!
Happy holidays,
liz
