364.1 | Kathy Smith's Workout Tape | LASSIE::WATERMAN | Have you hugged your Pit Bull tday | Wed Oct 26 1988 15:21 | 12 |
| I have been using Kathy Smith's Low Impact Aerobic Workout.
It is working wonders for me. The tape is about 1 hour long
and has an Upper Body Workout and Lower Body Workout as well
as two levels of Aerobics. The Lower Body Workout is great for
tummy, legs, and buttocks. I do the workout every other night
and I noticed a difference in the way I looked and felt in about
2 weeks.
The video is $29.95 and can be bought @ any Video Store.

364.2 | Sweatin' to the Oldies is GREAT | NUGGET::BRADSHAW | | Tue Nov 01 1988 13:24 | 27 |
| I just received the Richard Simmons' "Sweatin' to the Oldies" video
work out and I love it! I am one of those people who hate exercise
but this video is great because it makes me feel like I'm dancing,
not "exercising". It's a low impact aerobic workout of about 50
minutes. It doesn't have sections solely for firming and toning,
more of an overall aerobic workout effect (I think!).
Some of the songs you move to are:
Peggy Sue
On Broadway
It's My Party
He's a Rebel, etc.......
It's really fun. I ordered over the phone (from a tv commercial
that said "Are you tired of all those exercise videos with elevator
music and a bunch of leotard clad Stepford Wives?" This tape is
certainly not like that. There are several very overweight people
in the tape who move great!
BTW- one really neat point-- at the end of the tape, the 15 or so
exercisers each dance up to the camera and their names and how much
weight they have lost appears on the screen. Most all had lost over
a 100 lbs. and you can see their happiness and sense of accomplishment
in their weightloss refelcted in the true joy they put into their dancing.
It is just great to watch. (I do my sit-ups to it!)
The tape arrived in less than two weeks. Cost was $39.95. I have
the order # at home if anyone is interested.

sarah
p.s. both women's sports and fitness, and SHAPE magazine rate
cathy smith's aerobic tapes the highest, far above both jane fonda
and callanetics. the #1 rated tape was kathy smith's winning workout.

364.5 | I'd like the ordering information for Oldies tape | TEXAN::RESENDEP | following the yellow brick road... | Tue Nov 29 1988 18:00 | 8 |

I'd like to know how to order the Sweatin' to the Oldies video tape.
I LOVE old music, and currently do low impact aerobics every other
day. This would be a nice change for me!

364.6 | Jane Fonda Low Impact | BPOV02::PILOTTE | | Thu Dec 01 1988 11:53 | 18 |
| My vote goes for Jane Fonda's Low Impact Workout Tape. Having about
15 lb's more to go and not having any regular exercise routine I
started with this tape. There is about 5-10 minutes
of stretching and warm-up exercises, followed by 35 minutes of low
impact exercises. Considering that Im pretty out of shape I was
able to keep up without loosing my breath. Jane asks you throughout
the tape can you say a sentence and talk to someone. If the answer
was no she asks you to slow down. I was not out-of-breath.
I was very pleased and felt relaxed afterwards.
For me going to a place to workout does not fit in my life. Also
with my diet. I want it to be private. I have been to places before
where I felt as tho I was the only over-weight person there. I hated
it. So privacy is for me.
It was fun enough that my daughter and I do it together. I enjoy
that alot.

I got Kathy Smith's Low Impact Workout tape for Christmas and have
done it about 6 times. My opinion:
Warmup, arms and stomach - good
Legs and buttocks - great (where I need it the most, so maybe I'm
biased here)
Aerobics - fair
I don't like the actual Aerobics as much because I work out in my
living room, so I don't have the gymnasium sized floor on which
to slide and shuffle in each direction. I think she could have
done just as hard a workout, in fact harder, if it were done in
a smaller floor area. Also, two of the moves are very hard to
coordinate and I have yet to do them right. I will admit that
coordination is not my strong point, but I wonder why she put in
these two confusing moves when it seems the aerobic benefit of doing
them right is not any more than less confusing steps.
But I like it enough to stick with it, though I am searching for
another low impact tape just so I can alternate and therefore not
get bored.

If you live in NH and have cable...I tape channel 26 (sorry I don't
recall the call letters). They have three workouts in a row, starting
at 11:00. Bodies in Motion, and Basis Training.
