| Janet,
I don't have the answers to your questions (sorry!) but I'd like
to ask you a favor. Please don't write in all caps. It can be
interpreted as SCREAMING and it's quite hard on the eyes.
Thanks,
-Amy.

| The Cambridge diet is a high-protein, low calorie diet and is/was
considered to be very dangerous. You need to try a diet that is
more moderate. The people that I do know who tried the diet did
lose weight, but when they returned to a normal diet they not only
regained the original weight, they gained MORE!
Celluite is nothing but fat tissue. The reason why someone may
weight more than you, but does not display the celluite is because
they have a lower percentage of body fat. (You can get your bodyfat
measured - it can be a REAL eyeopener!). I'm sorry to say the
only way you can get rid of the celluite is to lose the fat. I
would recommend you also look at the FLEX notesfile - bodybuilders
have been refining diet/exercise for a long time in an effort to
lose bodyfat and retain their muscle.
The aerobics is a good idea, you should be working out a minumum
of 3-4 times a week at a specified heartrate. There is another
notes file, AEROBICS that you could look at also for more information.
Good luck, and let us know how you're doing.

| I did not mean to be derogatory in my last reply. I just reread
my reply after it was inputted, and realized it was harsh. I did
not mean for it to sound that way.
Accept my apologies.

322.4 | Biotherm | CSTEAM::WRIGHT | | Wed Jul 27 1988 14:24 | 16 |
| Janet,
I've recently started using a product for cellulite. It's called
Biotherm and is available in most department stores. You don't
use one of those scrubbing mits with it; it's just a cream that you
apply to the area, and it creates its own heat. So far, I've noticed
a SLIGHT improvement. You might want to give it a try, in addition
to your aerobics.
About varicose veins--I've heard that they can be made worse by
crossing your legs habitually. I'm not sure if this is medically
true, but just to be on the safe side, I try to remember not to
cross my legs too much.

322.5 | Have you tried eating more raw food? | MARVIN::JUBB | Alison - Lead writer for PSI and LES | Fri Jul 29 1988 10:39 | 23 |
| Janet,
You could try Leslie and Susannah Kenton's diet combined with "body
brushing" (I think that's the right term). Both are described in
their book, "Raw Energy".
The book advocates a diet with a high proportion of raw food for
overall good health, and one of the problems they particularly
recommend the diet for is cellulite. They also describe how to
do "body brushing" to help lose cellulite.
If you're keen to have a blitz on cellulite they have a 10 day
diet designed to cleanse your body of toxins, which I have heard is
effective combined with the body brushing.
Cellulite isn't a problem for me, so I haven't tried it myself. However
since reading the book I have made a big effort to eat as much food as
possible fresh and uncooked, and that has made a big difference to
how healthy I feel. It's (for me surprisingly) enjoyable too. So I
think it's worth trying!
