291.0. "question about ww@w" by THRUST::CARROLL () Tue May 31 1988 10:20

       I have read some of themessages here, and I see frequent
    reeferences to ww at work, but I can't find anything detailing what
    that is. Is it Weight Watchers? How can I find out obout this,
    and how do I sign up? Can someone send me some information, or
    at least pointme toward the right direction? (I'm new at DEC, so
    maybe I'm missing something obvious here....)

    thanks in advance,
    Diana (THRUST::CARROLL)

Hi Diana,

No, you're not missing something obvious.

You are correct, WW at work refers to the "Weight Watchers at Work Program",
which is available at a number of DEC facilities during lunchtime.

Topic 18 of this conference can tell you some information about where these
programs are held. Health Services at your location might also have some
information (or feel free to send me mail).

Where is node THRUST? My magic is currently broken. :-)

Well, the magic has returned and I can see you're in the Mill. My memory
tells me they cancelled the Mill WW at Work program due to lack of interest,
but I will check with my lecturer today, which is the start of our new session
so she'll be busy enough to start with :-). I've found a few bugs in my
memory lately, so I'd better check!

They do have the program in Stow, and that's not very far.

Will report back later,
Jill

291.3I think...JJM::ASBURYWed Jun 01 1988 11:0811
    I believe that The powers that be in the Mill have replaced WW@W
    with a Diet Workshop, also held at lunchtime once a week. Just
    before the start of a new session, there are numerous posters
    all around, especially in the Ladies' Rooms and on the vending
    machines. (good place for them, eh?)

    In any event, Health Services on 5-3 should be able to fill you
    in.

Yes, Amy, you are correct. My lecturer told me that they had replaced the
WW at Work program at the Mill with "something else".

She also told me that there is a Weight Watchers at work program at
Parker Street, which is a little closer than Stow :-). Call Health Services
over there if you want more information. By the way, you can join at any
time during the 10-week session if you're interested.

291.5WW registration not ongoingATSE::KASPERSuperstition brings Bad LuckThu Jun 02 1988 10:519
    The WW@W in Merrimack allows registration only during the registration
    session, and the first week of meetings. It used to be 2 weeks, but
    they cut it back when they went from 10-week sessions to 8-week.

    This is a WW restriction, according to our leader.

291.6Mass. vs. NH rulesARGUS::CORWINI don't care if I AM a lemmingThu Jun 02 1988 12:3017
re .-1 (Beverly)

The Merrimack, NH and Marlboro, MA Weight Watchers At Work programs are run
through two different franchises, with two different sets of rules (and two
different sets of prices, by the way).

I remembered reading your comments about registration limitations, and that's
why I've been trying to make the difference clear.

We used to have that restriction, but it was lifted in order to allow employees
greater flexibility in entering the program; if you're a week late to sign up
you shouldn't have the chance to eat your way through the remaining 8 weeks
until the next session starts up. (We all know the other rea$on, right? :-)).

291.7WW@W or Diet WorkshopTHRUST::CARROLLThu Jun 02 1988 15:079
    Jill and Amy both,thank you for the information. Now I am
    wondering something else. Since they have Weight Watchers at PKO
    and the Diet Workshop here at the Mill, which is better? Has anyone
    used both, and found one to be very different (better?) than the
    other?

    Thanks,
    Diana

Hi Diana,

I believe there are a lot of notes in here about people's experiences with
both plans. I'm sure that some people tend to do better on one and some on
the other.

I have my own personal bias due to my success, but since I don't know anything
about the other plan I would not make a recommendation of one over the other.

Happy Reading! :-)

Start 1992 with a NEW YOU and a GUARANTEE to lose ** 15 ** pounds in 10 weeks!

We are getting ready to start the first session of Weight Watcher's at Work
for 1992 in Colorado Springs. We have a couple options, and I would like to
know which one you prefer. We can chose only one of the options below and
will need to decide which one before we start. If you are sincerely interested
in joining, please vote for one of the options below. I will tally the votes
and we will go with the majority. If you have no desire to join, please
disregard this note.

Voting for an option does NOT imply a commitment on your part to join!
However, we will need 18 paid members in order to start. If you vote
for 12 weeks, but we decide on 20 (or vice versa) you are under NO
obligation to join if this will not fit your plans at this time.

Note, this is for COLORADO SPRINGS ONLY. Please do NOT send me a vote if
you are not in COLORADO SPRINGS. Prices are for Digital employees.
