| I reward myself very positively:
Buying a new book, buying some new fabric to sew, wearing an old
outfit I couldn't before and buying a new exercise outfit...(not
that often)

| Well, being the softy (emotionally!) that I be, for every ten pounds
I've been losing, I reward myself with adding another Popple to
my collection. I started collecting them long before I started
going to Weight Watchers, but now I get them more often!! ;-)
Wearing clothes that I could barely fit into 8 years ago is also
a great reward for me...

| My 20 lb. milestone gift from my husband was a new computer game!
When I hit the 30 lb. mark, he took me shopping for a new (red)
leotard and tights to emphasize my emerging figure. Haven't hit
him up yet for a 40 lb. reward.

| re .5:
Another weight loser here whose spouse provided rewards at each 10 lb.
milestone. My reward for the 10 lbs. lost mark was a trip to the
movies (this was at the time "Dragnet" came out, so we saw that).
After hitting the 20 lb. mark, my wife took me to Canobie Lake Park
for the day. I came home the evening after hitting goal to a nice
surprise -- a large bouquet of flowers from my wife, with a nice
congratulatory note attached. The rewards certainly helped!
If you like Lynn, I can have my Uncle Guido call on your husband
to...um, make sure he comes up with an appropriate 40 lb
reward... :-) :-) :-)

I am on strict diet that my Dr has put me on and I lost
some weight this week and she was very pleased..
and told me now go out and reward yourself with something..
She says everytime you lose 5 pounds buy a set of earrings
or a pin.. or a flower...that will let you know how well
you are doing..
Do you reward yourself? Sometimes it feels funny as I was kind
of use to given to others..but you know I'am learning to enjoy
it..
Take time to be good to you..

224.10 | A really *hot* soak is sooooooo nice | ATSE::KASPER | Heisenberg may have been here | Wed Jan 18 1989 15:06 | 20 |
|
The hot bath suggestion in another topic reminded me of another
non-fattening indulgence with which to treat yourself: there are places
that have private hot tubs you can rent for an hour (usually about $20).
These are full-size real jacuzzis, and there are few things quite so
relaxing. No one sees you undressed (except the optional friend or
spouse you bring along!). They provide towels, and there's a shower to
rinse off. There's a radio/tape player, too, so you can bring relaxing
music along.
There's one in Nashua, NH, called the Hot Spot, on the DW Highway a
little bit South of Spit Brook Road (in the plaza behind the D'Angelo's).
The surrounds there are tile (some places have wood), so you might want
to bring an extra towel to sit on (an hour is a very long time to spend
in hot water). Orange juice or spring water is a good idea too.
Happy soaking!

224.11 | My rewards?? Heh heh heh;-) | IAMOK::GAMESTER | | Mon Feb 20 1989 11:10 | 15 |

So far, I've rewarded myself with trying on old clothes that
didn't fit as well as some of my dresses (You know..the kind that
go down to there;-);-) and the hem up to there;-)) and see how I
look in them...whatta rush...my main reward is that I put $5 aside
for every pound I lose...at the end when I finish...I'm going out
and buy myself a leather skirt or dress...(Then look out;-):-);-))
and if there's $$ left, put aside for a cruise I'm taking next year
I'm pumped!!!!I can't wait:-):-)
Good luck to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

224.12 | A house! | WONDER::YOUNG | | Thu Nov 16 1989 15:25 | 13 |
| Turns out my -10 pound reward will be a new house! I hit the -10 mark
this Mon. and we're finally closing on our new (brand new) house
tomorrow. I should burn some calories moving in this weekend.
;-) It'll also be a big stress factor gone and that certainly can't
hurt!
As far as more realistic rewards though...;-)...I'd thought of going
for a facial. Another idea was this place in Natick that uses
image processing (or some such beast) to show you what you'd look
like with different hair styles. And yet another is going to a
place like Merle Norman and having them do your makeup for you.

| Rewards: ...gotta keep them coming for motivation
Somewhere at the beginning of my weight loss, I decided that when I
lost 50 pounds, I would split a small cup of Baskin Robbins Pecan
Praline ice cream with my best friend (sharing is always better). Now,
I did decide that it was not great to reward a weight loss with food
but the goal was set. Pecan Praline is good but not my favorite flavor
(like chocolate anything). Since it was there waiting for the 50-pound
lost mark, I really felt it was easy to avoid any sweet. I must admit
that every time I passed a Baskin Robbins (there are 50+ in town) I
felt something akin to a religious experience. So time went on and I
hit the 50 pound mark. Well, the Pecan Praline did not seem that
important. I knew I earned it and I'd have it eventually. I think I
finally had it at around the 70 pound mark. It was great. I swore off
food for rewards.
At the 75 pound mark, I promised myself a professional massage
(like .9). Well, that mark has come and gone and I will get that.
Like the Pecan Praline ice cream, I have not gotten the reward yet and
it may be closer to the 90 pound mark than 75. It's due me, it will be
done and I'll procrastinate a little.
At 100, the reward gets bigger. I've always wanted a vested suit
and a pocket watch. So, at 100 lbs, I go to a tailor, get measured for
a skirt, vest, jacket and have it professionally made for me (I've
always been too large to wear a vested suit). I want chocolate brown
with a beige or tan silk shirt but everyone says it should be teal or
blue. This is for me, I want what I want so I've decided on both.
At 125 and 150 (my final goal), I have no idea what the rewards
will be. Those seem so far away. I'm working on those. (Maybe a trip
somewhere or something).
On an ongoing basis, every time I weigh myself and show a loss, my
best friend (and housemate) walks up to me, gives me a hug and says
"I'm proud of you!" (I know I've mentioned this elsewhere). I am
praise driven and this really means a lot.
So, that's the end of my reward novel.
