I noticed that the Recall service wasn't calling me saying "you have a
message" a couple of days ago. After much bs, Vodacom eventally told me
that this hadn't worked since Monday, on-and-off.

It's back today. You may want to check for old messages.

935.140Alpha Caller ID on Panasonic phone?OGRI::63536::BELLMartin Bell @BBP (Mail & Messaging IST)Fri Feb 07 1997 12:159
Does anyone know whether it is possible to get Caller ID to display the
NAME of the caller, rather than the number, on the new Panasonic GSM phones?

I other words, if the number is in the phone's memory, display the text
associated with it.

Cheers

Re: .41

Paul, is your phone the Panasonic 350???

I know that the Nokias work, and so does my Orange.

Initially i though that it failed because i store all numbers with the
+44 prefix (just in case i am abroad), but i added some "uk local"
numbers and it still didn't work.

mb
935.146+44 a Pain, but essential if you travelCHEFS::LEYTONRichardFri Feb 07 1997 16:319
Martin is certainly right that the software in some of the phones is
not clever enough to cope with numbers entered with the international
prefix. Once you get rid of them mine works fine (a Nokia look alike).

Have you verified that this Panasonic is capable of CLI? Seemingly
plenty of phones on the market can't do it (though according to "What
Cellphone" all the current model Panasonic phones have CLI
i.e.G350/400/500).

935.147CHEFS::PATEMANCelebreties to the HebridesFri Feb 07 1997 16:495
Ref - a few

Yes, mine is a Nokia and the numbers are stored without the +44.

The Panasonics can do it, but seems like it's only for only for
BT numbers (I think). WHen my wife calls me from home the number is
displayed, though I've not (I'll check)
noticed the text which I have programmed in ("My House"). When I get
calls from other mobiles or DTNs all I get is "Incoming".
