| Hi,
OK, I dowloaded the demo off the web, and it works OK. Here are
a list of questions that I have before spending $50.00 on this thing.
1) the Demo did not work with my Thrustmaster steering wheel (Nascar2
does). If the real product doesnt work with the Thrustmaster wheel,
then forget it.
2) I have an AMD p75 133 MHZ system. It is faster than a garden
variety P75, but slower than a P90. The demo automagically
determines my system and I are low-lifes (may be true) and I cant
have SVGA. I supose its because the CPU is a 486, so the graphics
are rather lame for a $50.00 game. The #9 PCI video board could
handle this. Plays Quake in several modes just fine.
Convince me that my need for speed is greater than their need for
greed! I want to buy a good racing game for the kids (and me). Nascar2
is more of a simulation and not really as much fun for the kids.
Should I consider a different game?
Thanks,
Kurt

2900.49 | Wheel works | SSDEVO::ASTOR | Subsystems Engineering Support | Tue Feb 11 1997 11:59 | 21 |
| Well,
I got the Thrustmaster wheel working.. It seems that there is a small
doohickie that I neglected to install. When I got the wheel, I unpacked
it and saw what looked like a gender bender. I promptly pitched the
directions (reading directions is considered cheating in some circles),
and threw the gender bender into a drawer. Last night, since MOM is
coming to visit, I started cleaning and getting ready for the white glove
treatment. I found the doohickie in the drawer and upon closer inspection
realized that the connecters were not the same gender on both sides, as a
normal sex change device would be. Installed the ADAPTER, calibrated
and everything ran great. In fact, the program was so much more fun, I
raced for about an hour. Great stuff.
Now, could anyone help me determine if the full product version of the
program will let me try the higher resolution SVGA settings, even
though my system is actually a 486 type CPU?
Regards,
Kurt

| Just for the record, I bought the game, graphics are great and the kids
love it and I recommend it.
So, the end result is: It runs great on a AMD P75-133
