I see in the business wire (May 5, 1997), that VLSI acknowledge
designing and supplying custom chips that integrated into the IBM deep
blue computer that played Garry Kasparov. This now takes the IBM machine
from 'generic off the shelf' IBM system to a system whose sole design and
construction is one dedicated to beating a dediacted opponent.
