HI all, I met some people from University that are working in realtime operating system environment. They are interested in tools that model cache behaviour and tools for measuring the maximum execution time of a given set of instructions. At an experimantal level thay ported a hard realtime kernel (Hartik), that runs on several platforms, to Alpha using an AXPPci board. They are interested in Alpha architecture and in the issues above. Are there any news we can share with them? Thanks in advance Angelo

If they're using Digital UNIX, they should look at ATOM, which is a tool for writing such simulators. It makes it easy to insert your own instrumentation code into whatever program you want to measure. It's provided with recent versions of Digital UNIX. Your customer would probably be interested to talk with Dirk Grunwald from the University of Colorado, who has been using ATOM to do architectural studies on Alpha. | |||||
