I'm looking at the specs for the DEC21140 Evaluation Board and trying
to figure out how this module differs from the DE500-XA, DE500-AA,
DE500-BA that NAC has built.
The "Connecting the DECchip 21140 PCI Fast Ethernet LAN Controller
to the Network: An Application Note", EC-QAR2A-TE, talks about the
hw design aspects of the MII/SYM or the 100BASE-TX modes and
then says 'For more information about the evaluation board, refer to
the DECchip 21140 PCI Fast Ethernet Evaluation Board User Guide'.
The "DECchip 21140 PCI Fast Ethernet Evaluation Board User Guide",
EC-QD2SA-TE, describes the 8-bit general-purpose port for setting
the various operating modes of the EB140 and says that CSR12 controls
this port. Then it says 'for detailed information about the
general purpose port, refer to the DECchip 21140 PCI Fast Ethernet
LAN Controller Hardware Reference Manual.
The "DECchip 21140 PCI Fast Ethernet LAN Controller Hardware Reference
Manual", EC-QC0CB-TE (which supercedes the EC-QC0CA-TE), says in the
description of CSR12 'Refer to the 21140 application notes for the
details regarding a particular application'.
As near as I can tell there is no documentation that describes how
to program the Evaluation Board.
Is there any such documentation? Is there some sample code available?
This came up because a CSS group in France is trying to get the VMS
driver for the DE500 to work with the Rockwell RNS2300 which is
supposed to be identical to the EB140 and apparently the only
documentation they have from Rockwell are the aforementioned
specs which don't provide any useful information.

| The EB140 is very different from all the DE500 variants.
The document you want is EC-QD2SA-TE.PS (specifically look at page 1-7).
