I spent 5 1/2 months in the Gulf during which time Digital was thoughtful enough to "pay the difference" between my military pay and my normal Digital salary. Now, the folks at Corporate Payroll have my LES's (Leave and Earnings Statements) and are hard at work calculating what I have to pay back to Digital. Has anyone been thru this process before, or have you just finished it visa-vie Desert Storm? I am very interested in the tax consequences of having to pay back Digital with after-tax dollars and am wondering if someone else's experience supports this concern.

The payback for me was with before tax dollars. It took me a while to understand it but after a lengthly call to the finance people, they were kind enough to fill me in on how it is done. I could try to explain it but I think they would do a much better job at it than I could. Kevin | |||||

If its like me, you won't pay them, they won't pay you part of the pay you get every week, so they don't tax you on what you don't get paid in the future, till what you don't get paid equals what you shouldn't have been paid. Got it..... :-) Dick |
