140.0. "BOOT ? again" by KYOA::SCHWARTZR () Tue Dec 18 1990 14:45

    A question on boots, again.

    Earlier in this note we talked about boots, using the Falklands
    as a guide. Well what kind of boot is best for desert ops? I
    see most US troops are wearing jungle boots, would a nylon SWAT
    boot be better?

    Comments please.

    BTW. The last time I asked this question, I went out and bought
    a pair of DANNER FT LEWIS boots. FYI they are very comfortable,
    waterproof, and warm in cold weather. However, in warm weather your
    feet start to sweat. I haven't tried them in hot weather ( >70 Deg).

Assuming you are in America, I suggest you look out a mail order supplier or
otherwise carrying the Israeli Military Industries (sometimes called "Uzi brand")
gear. They make what I consider to be the finest desert boot available today.

I don't know if they're the real thing or what you were looking for, however,
I had just come across them when I read your note. Perhaps this will help you.

    thanks for the info

    I've heard some bad press about the jungle boots. It seems
    the steel shank heats up and can become a real pain in the
    foot 8^). Also the drainage holes tend to let sand in.
