As far as I know there is no policy towards
    	Dutch reserves...
The say : You joined the reserves voluntarily
so if you need time to excercise it's your problem !!
    	I'm working two shifts:first week from 7:30 to 16:00
second week from 16:00 to 00:30
        alternating from week to week.
If I need time off for a drill night during the late
shift I must either take leave, change shift or miss it !
Changing shift can be a problem due to workload.
For a week excercise I'm required to take a weeks leave !
The only exception to this rule is when an ex-conscript
is recalled to conduct a refresher course, then time is
granted but not payed by the company, instead by the government
because this a duty and no choise is given.
In the future the law will be changed to rename some of the
excercices (greater than five days) as "recall " excercices
therefore companies will be obligated to pay the participent,
in time but NOT in money. (which is good news!)

125.2Another DEC PolicyJGO::TILMon Dec 10 1990 10:1325
Here in Holland we have the "voluntary reserves" (NATRES), this is what
    is referred to in -.1

I'm not part of the voluntary reserves but as an ex-active Air Force
Officer have the obligation to stay "semi active" until I'm 45.
Officially, my civilian status is "on extended leave". I still get my
promotions as if I was in active duty (they come by mail). I have a
unit where know I'm going to when the need arises. I already have all
the documentation I need then at home (paperwork etc). This info is
coded and if I hear this code being mentioned in the media I know what
    to do.

I have to go back every year more or less (give and take a few months)
to stay current. For this period the following rules apply here.

DEC gives me time to go, and continues my pay as normal. The Air Force
pays me too, although less than I would get at DEC. This amount I
return to DEC when I receive it. I can opt to take holidays during the
period I go on reserve training, then I can keep the money.

    Regards,
