A customer is having a problem with non-delivery reports being generated in a 
MAILbus 400 <-> internet environment, and I'm wondering if the problem is 
caused by some sendmail misconfiguration.

Our SMTP Gateway writes to mail.log, as it's translating. In the extract 
below, an internet message is translated, sent to X.400 (which then passes it 
to another internet service,incredibly!), which receives a non-delivery 
report. This NDR is returned to sendmail, which can't deliver it.

I wonder about the original RFC822 FROM address below - is this a valid value?

    You're correct. "@psw401.psi.ch" is not a legitimate sender address.
    Looks like something may be wrong with psw401.psi.ch's sendmail
    configuration or some other relay upstream from the gateway.
