| Another update on sendmail V8 + mail11v3...
A fellow in Australia finally got around to merging the IDA bits into
sendmail V8.8.5 to support HEAD and MULT in the mail11 mailer. I
applied the patches (with a couple of minor repairs) and it seems to
have been running well for a few days here on Digital UNIX V3.2C and
3.2D-x. He's been running it on V4.0x. It also builds successfully on
the other platforms we have available, but the new code is only enabled
on Digital UNIX.
If anyone else is interested in this, both the standard V8.8.5
distribution and the patched distribution (together with binaries and
fully DECnet-ized M4 configuration files for all platforms) are in:
ftp://ftp.see.mro.dec.com/pub/sendmail/
There's a README in that directory that gives a brief summary of the
various versions and the configuration choices implemented in the
patched versions.
BTW - V8.8.5 (with or without DECnet) might be of particular interest
to anyone needing good 8-bit support but lacking a MIME user agent. It
will do automatic bidirectional conversions to and from 8-bit and 7-bit
encoded text/plain MIME messages. Say goodbye "=20" in your incoming
mail. :-)
-Tom
