1864.0. "NT DOS BOX access failure to 6.1 e1" by KERNEL::BURNST () Thu May 29 1997 08:43
Hi
I have a cust who is having the following problem.
When accessing a share on a PWUNIX 6.1 eco 1 system from a NT alpha
multia running NT3.51 he can use "windows" apps (notepad, word ect) and
create / modify files all OK. When droping to a DOS box any of the
applications (edit, smpt put, MS MAIL admin program) can not create,
modify the files. User can modify the files localy and use FileManager
to copy Ok. This would work ok but as he is using the multia as his
admin station he is having great difficulty running the MS mail admin
program.
Cust has a workround of NFS exporting the MS MAIL POSTOFFICE to a PW
unix 5.0g server sharing it out and then accessing it from the multia.
But as he is looking to migrate to unix 4 PW 6.x all round this will
not work for much longer. This happens to both of the custs 6.1 e1
servers.
I have tried to reproduce here but only now have a 6.1A system and
cannot do it.
Q1) Has anybody seen this or know why it happens.
q2) Does anybody have a PWUNIX 6.1e1 server to test access from a "dos
box" from NT.

| Hi Trevor,
I see it. I get a Path/File access error when trying to save from a DOS box. It works fine with
6.1 ECO2 and 6.1A.
