1840.1 | check the log file too | CPEEDY::GARDE | | Tue Apr 29 1997 18:46 | 17 |

Hi Mike -
We'll look into more details about error 3057. Meanwhile, check the
error log file using the elfread utility in /usr/net/servers/lanman/bin:
> elfread -d system | more
See if there are any problems that come up. There doesn't need to be a
browser or netlogon section in the lanman.ini file, unless you want to
override the default values for the parameters. Is the server going to
be the primary domain controller?

DATE: 4/30/97 EVENT ID: 6005
TIME: 3:15:16PM SOURCE: Eventlog
USER: N/A TYPE: Information
COMPUTER: MOSMANV61 CATEGORY: None
DESCRIPTION: The Event log service was started.
Was the output from the elfread command.
The server (mosman.stl.dec.com) is a BDC in a different subnet from the
PDC although there are other BDC's in the same subnet (16.153.32.0)
I was also wondering if I have the correct license. I have:
PWLMOSFCU05.00 active 5000 0
and my lanman.ini is:
[ server ]
listenname=mosmanv61
srvservices=alerter,netlogon,browser,replicator
userpath=/usr/net/servers/lanman/users
srvcomment=PATHWORKS for Digital UNIX Server
[ workstation ]
domain=CSC_SNO
[ netlogon ]
scripts=/usr/net/servers/lanman/shares/asu/repl/import/scripts
[ replicator ]
logon=Repl
replicate=import
importlist=tiger
exportpath=/usr/net/servers/lanman/shares/asu/repl/export
importpath=/usr/net/servers/lanman/shares/asu/repl/import
[ browser ]
lmannounce=yes
I am not sure what else I should be checking.
thanks,
Mike

1840.3 | complete reinstall fixed this! | GIDDAY::DRANSFIELD | Mike Dransfield, Sydney RSSG | Thu May 01 1997 01:15 | 12 |
| I do not understand this, but after trying everything I could think of,
looking at ethernet traces adding netbeui, I finally
deinstalled pathworks, removed /usr/.smdb./PW* and then reinstalled
and netlogon now starts!
The only thing that I can think of, was that I had previously installed
V6.1 and then uninstalled that and installed V6.1a
anyway, it works now,
thanks,
Mike

1840.4 | same problem here | YAKKA::KINGSMILL | Geoff Kingsmill, Australia | Thu May 01 1997 18:25 | 6 |
| Mike,
Your not alone on this problem. I had the exact same problem a month ago.
Everything looked OK. Finally in desperation I did a comple deinstall. After
reinstalling netlogin started just fine.
