I have a customer who uses server based licenses. The customer is telling me that once a client obtains a license it is never released. I have tested this function and at first agreed with the customer. Then about 5 to 10 minutes later I saw that the license was released. # lmf list PWLMOSFCU05.00 active 250 1 #lmf list PWLMOSFCU05.00 active 250 0 Can the license timeout time be changed in any configuration file? jerryj

What type of clients are they? What version of Pathworks? The license should be released as soon as the client disconnects. If it's an NT workstation that's establishing duplicate sessions, I've noticed that the "guest" session will hang around idle for 10 minutes. It will go away after 10 minutes, release it's license and then show up again, claiming another license. Unless your watching your sessions continually, it would appear that the license was never released. See note 1830 for the duplicate session problem. Julia | |||||

Hi Julia, All the clients are NT 3.51 or 4.0 workstations. Yes they see duplicate sessions and this is chewing up server based licenses. Also on my 6.1a server it takes 3 to 4 minutes for the server based license to release. The session is gone immediatly but the lmf list shows the license consumed for 3 to 4 minutes. I was using and Win95 client. Tks, jerryj |
