I've created a shared directory with pwadmin in /usr/users (PW v6.1a under Digital Unix v4.0). I've seen the new shared directory in the VIEW->shared resource. But I couldn't access it even if I set the permission for user xy to RWCXDAP. I checked the permissions with net access c:/usr/users/shareX and it was incompatible with the permission settings the I can lookup in Accounts -> file permissions. Creating a new share and setting the permissions with the net command caused no problems. After restart of pwadmin I checked again the file permssions. What a surprise when I saw that it was equal to net access. But now I received the NET2310: This shared resource does not exist when I tried to change the permissions of any users. The workaround is to operate with the net-command. But some customer won't accept it because they are used to managing pathworks with pwadmin. Same environment as in note 1828.0. I logged in as administrator in pwadmin but provided a false password. Before I was user root. No error msg about the false password and I could operate as administrator. Have I to set something to enable password checking? Hi > Have I to set something to enable password checking? No password check is done for Unix root account locally on PDC. It is assuming that if you are root you can do what you want. You can type any password (even blank). you can do net logon username blabla you will receive The server \\SERVERNAME successfully logged you on as username. ---------------------------- On V5.0Gx it's (not) different on PDC. The first time you try net logon username blabla the following message appears Error 86 has occurred. The network password entered is incorrect. but don't move try again and "The server \\SERVERNAME successfully logged you on as username." arrives. see also note 1766.x Regards, Jean-Pierre |
