Have a customer with multiple NT trusted domains. They are configuring a Pathworks 6.1 eco2 server to trust one of the NT domains. When they get to the point of loging on to the other domain it fails. The username and passwords hve been checked many times. Clients on both sides of WAN can connect to shares on the opposite WANS server. The LMHOSTS files are configured properly. Does Pathworks licenseing affect trusted domains? Does anyone have trusted domains to a NT server over a WAN working? If so are there any tricks. Jerryj

1825.1 | checking the configuration | CPEEDY::GARDE | Tue Apr 29 1997 14:53 | 14
Hi Jerry - If I understand the configuration, there are 2 domains, an NT, and a PW v6.1eco2. These domains reside in different subnets, thus require WAN connections. The trust is set up properly, and the users can connect to shares in the other domain after being granted permissions. The problem is that the clients in one domain cannot net logon to the other domain. Is this correct? - Ces
1825.2 | Can't get NT to Pathworks trust | ALFSS2::JONES_J | Tue Apr 29 1997 16:14 | 23
Hi Ces, The customer has one NT domain in subnet 1 where all 2000 users exist. The customer also has 6 more domains where a NT is the pdc in each of the 6 domains. All 6 domains are in a different subnet and are connected via routers to main NT domain. All 6 domains are configured for two way trusts to main domian. The customer also has 3 Pathworks servers of which one is at 6.1 eco2. After setting up the accounts on the NT and the Pathworks server with passwords the customer then trys to login to the Pathworks server from the NT and fails and also fails to logon to the NT server from the Pathworks server. Since the logins to the domains a failing can not complete the trust configuration. The error from both servers cannot find domain controller so never get prompted for a password. After checking the LMHOSTS files on the NT pdc and the Pathworks pc and finding them correct don't know where to go next. Also since the customer has allredy setup 6 trusted domains from NT to NT it should be simple to setup the Pathworks to NT domains trust. Jerry
1825.3 | Can't get it to work here either | CPEEDY::GARDE | Mon May 05 1997 18:14 | 12
Hi Jerry - We gave it a try in the lab and also could not set up a trust between a domain with a PATHWORKS PDC and a domain with an NT PDC or WAN. We were able to set up an NT to NT trust, though. You should probably enter an IPMT case on this one. - Ces |
