1806.0. "Can't rename a file to a longer filename" by YAKKA::KINGSMILL (Geoff Kingsmill, Australia) Wed Apr 02 1997 20:49
DUNIX V4.0b
PWUNIX V6.1-ECO2
WNT V4.0 SP2
From WNT V4.0 I can only rename a PWUNIX share filename to the same or less
number of characters in length. From WNT "My Computer" window if I have a
filename of five characters and I try and rename the file to six characters in
length I am unable to enter the sixth character. If I rename the five character
file to be four characters in length then it works. However, if I then try and
rename this four character filename back to a five character filename I am
unable to enter the fifth character.
This works fine from the cmd or winfile window, but fails from "My Computer"
window. The problem only exists with PWUNIX. PWVMS and NT shares works fine.
Is this a known problem?
Thanks,
Geoff..

Yes this is a known problem.
I can't remember the CLD Nb or Qar nb at the moment.
It is not fixed in V6.1A :-(
You can anyway make an IPMT to stay informed of news.
