Hi, One of our customers upgraded from PW DUNIX 5.0ECO1 to PW5.0F PREECO5. Since then he has a problem with Word for Windows. When he saves a file to a file service on Digital Unix he get the message "Word Cannot save or create this file. Make sure the disk is not write protected or full". Saving the file locally and then copying to his fileservice is OK. He uses Pathworks DOS and Windows 3.1. Digital Unix 3.2C, Pathworks for Unix 5.0F, Word for Windows 6.0c, Windows 3.1 with Pathworks for DOS/Windows 5.1. He is not using NFS, but a Raid disk and lanman.ini has unixlocks=no set. I saw this problem and the solution mentioned in Topic 1676. Another problem seems to show in the same direction: When in Office'95 on a Win'95 PC with PW for Win95 an Excel document is saved things work well until he defines some macro in this document. Then saving results in the same message that disk is full or write protected. Local save and then copy to file server works. In this case he has PW 50F ECO4 installed. Did somebody see this problem too? Is a solution as in topic 1676 also available for PW 5.0F? Thanks, Hans van der Heide, Ruemlang, Switzerland.

The Office problems (saving files) are fixed in the latest 5.0G and 6.1 kits. Namely 5.0G ECO2 and 6.1 ECO2. 5.0F pre-ECO5 is not a supported kit. Julia | |||||

As the subjects says, we still have problems saving files with Word/Excel (from Office95). It depends on the content of the files, some will save ok, others not. The error message shown by Word is (tranlated from german): Word could not finish saving file ... due to an access error But the file is there! And has proper user/group/access rights! Btw, copying files with explorer works like a charm. Anyhow, should I fiddle around with ACLs (everything looks ok so far)? -Ferdinand [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] |
