1774.0. "lmx.browser core dump" by YAKKA::KINGSMILL (Geoff Kingsmill, Australia) Wed Mar 05 1997 17:07

I have a Pathworks V6.1-ECO2 server where lmx.browser writes a core dump.
Any ideas?

Thanks,
Geoff..

Is it reproducible at will ?

1774.3tuning?YAKKA::KINGSMILLGeoff Kingsmill, AustraliaFri Mar 07 1997 07:566
This machine is on easynet so browser finds a LOT of domains. Is there any
tuning parameters that might affect lmx.browser. In any case lmx.browser
should not core dump.

Thanks,
Geoff..

Geoff,

I can say for the moment what is the pb.
But you can try 2 things for me

1/ there is a NT tools call Browser monitor you could use
to see who is the master browser, how many domain the
master browser has and the other browser in the domain.
You can start/stop PWKS Unix browser (net start browser)
and look at the monitor.
( This tool is either in NT351 and NT40 ressource kit. )

2/ I will really appreciate if you can dowgrade in ECO1
and see if the same.
Since I have a machine in Easynet using the 3 transports and
lmx.browser has never crashed I suspect the ECO2 bug fixes.
Ok lmx.browser does not ever run correctly but never crashes.

Thanks,
Jean-Pierre

According to browman.exe from the Resource Kit the master domain has
1000 domains, and the other browser in the domain sees 999 domains.
Wow, this is a lot of domains.

# net start browser
The BROWSER service is starting...
The BROWSER service could not be started.
The service didn't report an error.
More help may be obtained by typing NET HELPMSG 3534.

Good thought, but the problem also exists in ECO1.

Thanks,
Geoff..

Hi

If you use multiple transport you can try to disable one after one
and see if lmx.browser continues.

If it does not help Could you put the server in debug mode
and save the Debug-xxxx somewhere we can have a look.

(may be time for a CLD...)

It doesn't matter, lmx.browser always cores.

Nothing very useful.

Thanks,
Geoff..
