Hi, I tried to change the machine name of my pathwork server through following steps. But I got error only at the first netlogon. The system is setup as primary domain controller, and no other backup domain controller in the domain. 1. use "pwadmin" create a user account for the new machine name. 2. stop license server, modify license.dat to set new machine name 3. remove lanman.ini 4. run "pwsetup configure" to set new domain name 5. run "netsetup" to change machine name 6. reboot system Can anybody tell me the correct procedure to change machine name without delete user information? Thanks. Zhao Nanguang CSC Singapore [Posted by WWW Notes gateway]

Thank you for your reply. I forgot to mention that my pathwork server is 5.0f. Is that solution for this version? Zhao Nanguang CSC Singapore [Posted by WWW Notes gateway] | |||||
1771.3 | for V5.0x | EVTAI1::CASTELLO | UNIX and PCI Support | Wed Mar 05 1997 10:10 | 30 |
Ok Now for V5.0x your stuff is quit good see below >1. use "pwadmin" create a user account for the new machine name. Ok but You have to add the new name in the servers group. It's probably why you got the netlogon error. >2. stop license server, modify license.dat to set new machine name >3. remove lanman.ini It's not necessary. If you used listenname modify it Modify the exportlist= to your new name >4. run "pwsetup configure" to set new domain name You said you want only change machine name.So you keep the same domain name. pwsetup is not necessary. >5. run "netsetup" to change machine name uname and hostname could be enough but it's ok. >6. reboot system Jean-Pierre note that V5.0f is very old now think to upgrade (V5.0G-ECO2) |
