1755.0. "mapgroup" by CHEFS::BARRETTO () Wed Feb 19 1997 19:27

    Hi,

Can anyone tell me if the mapgroup command is supported or available
on any of the PWOSF V5.0x releases. I have seen an earlier note which
indicates that the functionality is not available.

However, I have a customer who insists that the command does exist, and
that it does not appear to work properly.

    Regards,
    Tony

How does it have to work ?
mapgroup works exactly as mapuser.

Pathworks v5 needs to have entries for Lanman group in /etc/group.
Since the Lanman group name can be already used by Unix it is modified then
mapped.
Also Lanman group name can be up to 20 characters in length and Unix
group name only 8 char max, so it is mapped.

Typically for the Lanman group USERS witch is already present for Unix.
Pathworks creates Unix group (i.e.) usersae (see in /etc/group) witch
is mapped with Lanman group USERS (see net group and mapgroup -l).

Mapgroup was not implemented although you will see it in
/usr/net/servers/lanman/bin of a 5.x server. You'll receive
a cannot execute or permission denied error if you try to run
it.

Right Julia.
Have a look on permission on that file (not the link)
I never understand why those kind of perm were set.
Go on and do chmod 755 or what ever you want (ex just add x bit to the owner)
and run it.
