1751.0. "PW + UNIX GROUPS" by CHEFS::BARRETTO () Mon Feb 17 1997 04:35
This is trying to request info re 1489.
Hello,
SYMPTOM:
When Lan Manager clients update a file, they automatically change the
group
to the default lan manager group (DOS----). UNIX users (or UNIX apps
like
PacerShare) cannot get to the file if they're access is by group.
This has been escalated HPXQ16886, and the answer was that
Unix users should become part of the DOS group.
CUSTOMER RESPONSE
My customer did not want to do this due to security concerns. He knows
about
ignoreunix=yes, and has worked around by doing a cron job which changes
groups
manually after the Unix users have finished with them. This is very
messy...

Two questions:
1) According to the escalation, the server is working exactly as it is
documented to work. Where exactly is this documented?
2) Has improved file sharing between Pathworks and Unix
users been programmed into PWOSF V6 ?
Thanks,
