    PATHWORKS V6.1EC01 Problem

There is a problem saving Netscape mail folders to a PATHWORKS Share
from an NT Client. This problem causes data corruption in some of
the Netscape mail files. A patch for this problem is available from
the anonymous ftp area on racerx.lkg.dec.com. The patch is located
in ./V6.1ECO1/patches/lmx.srv. Details on the problem and installation
instructions are included below. If you distribute this patch,
please make sure you keep track of which customers get the fix. All
CLD's and QARs on systems running this patch, should note that the
patch as been installed as part of the problem description.

Netscape opens a file in O_WRONLY mode.
It then tries to query information on the file. This query fails,
since the existing PW Server requires Read Access on a file to
return status info for a file. The failure is returned to the
client and the client ignores the failure and writes to the file,
using the bogus data returned in the failed query message. In
the case of Netscape mail, the file is assumed to have a file
size of zero even if the file is larger, and messages are over
       written.

     Installing PATCH

               Stop pathworks server
               cd /usr/opt/PWKBASE610/usr/net/servers/lanman/bin
               cp lmx.srv lmx.srv.orig # save old lmx.srv process
               cp <new.lmx.srv> lmx.srv
               chown lanman lmx.srv
               chmod +x lmx.srv
               Restart pathworks server
